Small change for the druids

Apparently there was some confusion about a druid spell which analyses a herb's quality. Especially the English translation was ambiguous.

I changed that (both German and English descriptions). Here you can find some information about it:

New Clientversion

Today there was another client update, that removed some errors that came along with the last version of the client. The removed errors are now finally the NoSuchElementExeption error and the bug that some tiles were not selectable. Furthermore the error that prevented the background music from being played is now removed.

The errors of the client are now again saved in the log files in the client directory.

As additions the mouse handling got a improvement that should speed up the mouse and reduce the lag that occured when the mouse was moved while a key was pressed.

Also the keyboard handling got a improvement and acts now more like the the operating system you use.

Last but not least there are good news for users of MacOS, who use a version prior 10.5 of this operating system. The new client was compiled with Java 1.5 and is this way runable with the Java Runtime Enviroment version 5.

New Feature: Tying

The tying system is now active and usable for all. I have written a Wiki article about it.

Please use it responsibly. Although everything is monitored, please don't make any trouble for the GMs. It is supposed to be fun for everyone, especially for the player who loses control to another player and is tied up.

If you encounter problems or if you have suggestions, just send me a PM in the forum.

Update - Client 1.2 - Server 0.8.4

As many of you noticed today, there was a update of the gameserver and the client.

This update contained a lot of bug fixes, more then one could count, and for sure a few bugs which will keep us busy in the future. One of the (hopefully) solved bugs is the NoSuchElementException Bug that crashed clients on a regular base.

One of most visible new features is the light system. This update involves static lights (by items like campfires) as well as moveable lights which can be carried, like torches. Also the nights and the caves in Illarion are now darker then they were before, so torches become useful.

Also the displaying of the minor skillpoints got added to the client. Those are visible in form of a bar behind the text of the skill that fills up slowly. As soon as the bar is full you get a new real skillpoint.

Another improvement at the client is the update of the used graphic and game engine LWJGL from version 1.1.4 to version 2.1.0. The new version should run faster now and shoudn't involve as many bugs as the old version. Expecially those annoying bugs like the freezing if the client every now and then.

Last but not least the possibility of play OGG Vorbis files was added to the client. Those are the open source equivalent to MP3 soundfiles and offer us the possibility to add more soundfiles to the client without a large increase to the size of the files. Also these new ogg files are played faster and with less hardware ressources than the old wav files.

All in all we hope that this client does not cause more problems then it solves. This is the first update that was not done by our currently inactive client developer nop.

The thanks for this update goes out to our new Java Developer Ragorn, Vilarion and Nitram.

Since a few days there is a new version of the questplanner on the homepage avaiable.

Beside the better integration into the homepage ant its possibility it also comes up with some clearly visible additions. One thing is that those quests that are just descripted in one language are shown on pages that do not fit the language of the quest anyway.

Another thing is that the players got the possiblity (again) to put in quests into the planner. But this quests insert by players are not shown right away. Rather they are first checked by the GMs and get activated or deleted by them.

This should offer the players the possibility to announce any events in the game better then it was possible before. And it should avoid the abuse of this system as it happend last time.

The last addition is the way the time is entered and stored. Its not recognized as time and so its recalculated to your local timezone settings in case you are logged in.
