The new client contains a load of small bugfixes that reduce the amount of crashes we were experiencing over the last few weeks. In addition to that, the entire light system was reworked. The light casting on the tiles is not smoothly interpolated and the entire calculation is working faster than before. The calculation of the day and night cycle was reworked as well and isn't doing any strange jumps any more. The length of a day also varies over the course of a Illarion year. The shortest days in the year is the 2nd and 3rd of Mas. Changes at the game content and the map as usual as a nice and compact list:
Have fun with this new update! As usual you may discuss on the board if you have questions or comments regarding this update! written by Nitram on 01. March 2015 06:35 pm Press release: 15th anniversary of the online roleplaying game IllarionKempten, Germany – On 19 February 2015, the online roleplaying game Illarion celebrates its 15th anniversary. Since 2000, a free, sparkling jewel among the online roleplaying games called Illarion stands its ground among the titles of major studios. Nowadays, most know the bulky abbreviation „MMORPG“ for Massive Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game. When Illarion evolved out of an academic project by three students of the Bundeswehr University Munich fifteen years ago, this one has been different. With clear emphasis on true roleplaying, Illarion attracts players that are not just out for wealth and experience points but want to embody a fictional role. Skilled crafter, noble knight, ambitious politician or blind beggar – the classic fantasy setting of Illarion offers a role for everyone to slip into. The world is forged by the unlimited interaction of the characters. Friendship and relations evolve. Love and hate, war and peace, trust and treason – roleplaying is not bound to any limits. Fifteen years of Illarion, this equals 45 years of the calendar in the game. The lore is not just based on made up legends and myths, but also on actual events that took place in the game. The characters still speak about the past Illarion Games, comparable to the Olympic Games, and the exodus from the land Gobaith. This event affected the game years ago and became part of the history of Illarion. Banduk, one of Illarion’s developers, elaborates: „With Illarion, we want to provide a truly free game where the actions of each player can forge the world. Our primary directive is: ‘We play with, not against each other.’”. By continuous development by volunteers, Illarion is adjusted to the wishes and demands of the community – even after fifteen years. This year, new dungeons were discovered and new, unknown items added to the game. Illarion is completely free, there is no monthly fee nor payments for items. The game works with Windows, MacOS and Linux. You can download it at http://www.illarion.org. A registered society called Illarion e.V. runs the game. Its 50 members provide the game to all the roleplayers in the world without generating any benefit from it. The game is released as “open source” according to the licence GPLv3. written by Estralis on 17. Have fun with these new additions to the game. written by Nitram on 24. January 2015 11:29 pm New Launcher: 1.0.0.34Hello Players, It has been a long time since the last update of the launcher for Illarion. In this new version the speed to detect the current version of the application has been improved and the launcher now stays open after an application is launched. In addition to that, there was an update of the installation application used by the launcher. The new version 6.0.1 contains a lot of improvements, many of them for the MacOS X operating system. At this point we'd like to say thanks again to the people over at ej-technologies who provide us with this software for free. The version of Java that is bundled with the launcher was also updated to Java 1.7 update 72. The update closes some security problems in Java, but those problems are not relevant for Illarion. However, better safe than sorry. We also want to remind you that the support for Windows XP is running out soon. Oracle will drop the support of Java 7 at the end of April 2015. This means we will perform an update to Java 8 at the beginning of May 2015 and Java 8 does not support Windows XP anymore. written by Nitram on 18. January 2015 05:29 pm | ||||||||||
