Illarion expansion

This is a proposal for a much much farther into the future implementation (before martin or anyone else cuts on me

) Since the current island is so large, and not many more things can be added onto it, including more island land. Then would it not be a good thing to have multiple maps, different islands each different in size and layout. Instead of one island, some maps could have many, an archipelago. And since I know graphics are a pain, then having each map use a different set of graphics might not be do'able. Even though, having Ice islands, desert islands, tropical island, etc. would be interesting and unique. Especially if each one had it's own types of monsters, resources, and natural life. Still, this is just something to think on, doesn't mean it should be implemented anytime soon.

Reading in the history of the island, you should know, that their is other land outside the Island around Troll's Bane.
This larger map is in process and will come.

Aragon is a board member now, eigh? Interesting.
I think this would be an interesting idea. There could be ferries that would ship you from island to island for a price and drifters could spend their whole life exploring. The big problem is that your chances of meeting another person on a map so big would be miniscule.

yes i agree witch mean we would need more npc or an easier acceptance, becouse if it were larger and with the amount of people online at a time...there woulnt be many interactions with other players

*sigh*
Wouldn't it be cool if we had horses? Wouldn't it be cool if you could see what your character wears? Wouldn't it be COOL if there were fighting animations?!
*sigh*
Let's keep in mind what Martin said about small steps. Think closer to home before attempting to change the parts of the world that are not playable yet. Consider the potions topic, consider the balance of the fighting system etc etc.
This outburst was brought to you by three months of Brendan being nice.

I did think about it Brendan. As I said in the original post (since no one seems to have seen the first sentence), This is for a much farther into the future implementation. Really what I wanted was peoples opinion and maybe other things that could be "patched" into the program in a future client...not change the current one. To me..as a programmer... The fighting system, potions, skill gain, etc. are simply bugs to be slowly worked out of the game, but no complex program is ever entirely bug free...that is just wishful thinking and praying. Powergamers are just a pesky little virus that you can never completely eradicate out, no matter how hard you try they just come back. I'm trying to see the game past the bugs, after all of them that can be fixed have been, and conceptualize what direction Illarion could take afterwards. That is why I said 'Future'. I do think about "closer to home" topics, but that is a box...and sometimes, it is good to step outside it and look around.

I hate to sound like spoilsport, but I've crossed way beyond that line a while ago, and I don't plan on making "friends" over this forum. In case you think something you think is "new"; it's probably
not. If it's not somehow covered or addressed in the "Development"-points listed above (which I've taken from the frontpage of
www.illarion.org), then it's still oftenly
not new, either (extensive use of the forum's "Search" function might help here).

Define "Powergamer", please. You can feel free to PM it to me if you prefer that way (I find the subject here in this context a bit off-topic, but there's also a topic dubbed "powergaming" in General discussions I will be reviving soon). I'm very curious about
your definition of powergaming. And how about some current names?
Who is currently powergaming on illarion?

Thank you for that lovely little sermon about the wonders of the Search function. I'm sure everybody loves delving into the dark recess of the forum to find a topic that may only barely be related to their's and no one even remembers ever existed.
As for Powergamer's. I define them simply as a person that does the same action hundred's of times a day in order to master every skill as quickly as they can...because they want to be a powerful character or make tons of gold. As for names, honestly...I don't fricken give a damn if someone does or not. But the Gm's do apparently. It is one of those things trying to be fixed, like the fighting system and potion use. That is why I said "virus", the potions thing can easily be coded to fix it but there has been effort to stop powergamers since I started playing sometime last year. So far, I haven't seen an end to powergaming as I define it. However, the definition is quite subjective to the person as I don't believe there is a clear and concrete definition of "Powergaming". You'd have to ask the Gm's to find out what they think Powergaming is.
What is your definition of powergaming Moirear?
No...don't answer that. This is not going to turn into another discussion of Powergaming. All I wanted was some peoples ideas on expanding illarion past the isle some day, and what they would like to see out in the wider world...that is all really

Okay, Velin, before you bring any other witty response, let me inform you that the sermon for the Search function serves two things:
• So people put more structure and useful input to their postings in the Proposals section
• So the staff doesn't entirely remove the Proposals section (on account of too many people not using it correctly)
Understood?

That sounds interesting, from what I remember from the histories, wouldn't it be mainly be wasteland from the war....or was it wars.
@Velin it would be nice to have more to go to.
All I need to do now is actually get into the game.

No, the war of the Gods is over long enough so the world has been recolonized. But according to the recent history as stated in the background as stated in the chronicles the mainland would be in a state of chaos after the reign of the evil sorcerer king ended.
