Story of the character

M

aha-Rinya, called Rin, reached Illarion at dawn. Tired and exhausted as she was, she sat down by the nearest fire to rest. The tavern behind her was full of loud and drunken people, roaring and singing songs.
She said her prayer to Mother Findari and closed her eyes.
After an unspecified amount of time, she was bumped roughly in the side. A man stood over her and slurred "Well exotic beauty - how about a quick ..... ? " as he made some repulsive pelvic movements.
Rin slowly straightened up to look the man, who reeked of alcohol and filth, straight in the eye.
"Think again, you don't have any weapons - but I do. And it's the last and only warning"
The drunk laughed and held his considerable belly.
"You're almost two heads shorter than me"
Rin took a small, tiny step, grabbed his arm and rolled under him in a flash so that the stunned man was thrown onto the ground and onto his back with a violent jerk.
The spear pierced his throat very lightly as she stood threateningly over him and asked in a low, calm voice, "Would you like to change your mind?"
The man croaked out a *just kidding....*
Rin picked up her belongings, stowed the spear on her back and walked away without paying any further attention to the man or the tavern.

Born in the vast plains of Serin, Maha-Rinya was taught two things from an early age: to protect herself and to protect nature. She had never met her father. As is usual with the Tribe, he had disappeared - or been forced to disappear - after she was born. Her mother was the Tribe's leader and a priestess of Findari. Rin had a happy childhood, wild, close to nature. Her talent for spear and bow fighting became evident early on. But she also learnt to defend herself without weapons, in unarmed combat. Perhaps because her Father was one of the famous elven war dancers.
At the age of 19, the tribe came together to discuss her future. It was a common practice to send the daughters of the great shamans and priestesses out into the world to learn. Her mother had also once gone on a long journey, but then returned home to take her mother's place. Rin had two older sisters who were less wild and impetuous and would make better leaders.
Rin was also the most curious of the three and her thirst for knowledge was unrivalled in the tribe.
And so she set off - into an uncertain future and to distant lands.
