Character profileCartaphilus
Currently online Description of the character![]() n elder of elegant build and lofty stature, holding his proud head high above ordinary men. Silverwhite hair, abundant in age as it was in youth, flows in gentle waves down to his shoulders. His pale face shows the marks of his venerable age, but the attentive, steely blue eyes reveal an inquisitive and sharp mind. His lips, pale and closed tightly, are framed by whiskers and a pointy beard, reminiscent of a goat. His dark silken robes may have been befitting a noble, once, but are worn out and of a style which has become long out of date. Shunning unwanted attention, Cartaphilus made a habit of wearing a broad-brimmed, pointy hat on his travels to block out the prying stares of common folk, so that he may focus on his own thoughts undisturbed. As typical of those born under the sign of the Serious Bat, Cartaphilus maintains an aloof and dignified demeanour, always keeping a stiff upper lip. Story of the character![]() scholar of the arcane arts, reputed to be of noble blood, although having neither title nor land to his name. Regardless, he must have been more a man of the book than the sword, if he learned his craft at the academy of Albar. He did not return home, but chose the life of an itinerant mage and travelled the mainland to further his understanding of sorcery. His path crossed that of an elven sorceress, who took the aspiring, young mage as her apprentice. Years of shared travels and arcane experimentation made them close confidants, and as Cartaphilus grew older and more experienced, he became her equal and eventually a master in his own right. Although Cartaphilus, ever in the elfess's company, served as mentor to magic apprentices or as court mage to nobles wherever he went, he never lingered long enough to become too familiar, and was quick to resume his journey. To slake his unquenchable thirst for knowledge, of course. | ||||||||||
