Story of the character

A

rriving to Gobaith in the Spring of year 30, Bernie Bottoms, of the Bottoms Clan of Pennymill, arrived to find his father "Dusty Bottoms", former Mayor of Greenbriar & Baron of the Western Sea, dead and buried in Greenbriar.

After some time of grief, Bernie did research about who his father was, and wanted to fill his shoes. He crafted, mined, fished and taught himself about trading and business. Being successful at this, he started the "Gobaith Chamber of Commerce" to act as a central trading and crafting guild.

After the cataclysm which destroyed his Gobaith, he found his way to Galmair and was home again. He mastered Mining, Cooking and Smithing and can be found learning to master many other crafts. Always an avid trader, he started Galmair's "Daily Profit" newspaper and the Galmair Mining Guild. A year later, he was called away to the mainland for six years to care for his dying mother. It was then that he married a beautiful lady and they had a child, Charlotte. Soon, business called him back to Gobiath for a short time, while he sent profits home for his family.

He spent a few years advancing in the Don's favor as a Patrician, when a business partner also required he become neutral. He revoked his citizenship and began a 'farming guild' at the Hemp Necktie Inn, with moderate success. Soon word came from the mainland that he was needed in Pennymill. He returned there and saved the town from danger, not unlike one experienced in former Gobaith. Grateful, the citizens made him Mayor and he stayed for nearly 10 years watching his family and Pennymill grow. He always thought of Galmair as home though.

One stormy night, his wife of 20 years passed away in her bed of natural causes. Bernie realized that he was more than halfway through life himself, and that his daughter had never seen Galmair. The next week, he retired from politics, made arrangements and journeyed back to Galmair with his daughter "Charlie". This time, he would stay until he died.

He recently founded another "Chamber of Commerce" patterned after the one from Gobaith, and a "Crafter's College" where he wrote down his wealth of experience for a new generation of crafters to follow. He is often found in the Galmair marketplace, or the mines to this day.
