Story of the character![]() live Seger grew up in the bustling town of Salkamar. Even as a child, his towering frame set him apart. Children teased him not just for his size but for his dreams. From an early age, Clive dreamed of becoming a scribe—a scholar who could document the world’s stories and knowledge for future generations. He envisioned himself surrounded by scrolls filled with wisdom, contributing to the vast tapestry of history rather than merely being a part of it through brute strength. However, societal prejudices have thwarted his aspirations; people see only his size and physique instead of recognizing the intellect beneath. Isolation marked his teenage years. Friends were few, but tall tales told by old men became his confidants. Clive found solace in ancient tales, each word whispering hope. He learned that strength isn't just physical. It's the audacity to pursue dreams against the odds. As a young man, brimming with same curiosity and thirst for learning that he had since childhood, Clive applied to the esteemed Academy of Salkamar, renowned for its scribes and scholars. He was summarily dismissed. The instructors, intimidated by his imposing size and wary of his potential for violence (which was entirely unfounded), deemed him unfit for the delicate work of scholarship. "You look more like an oaf than a student, boy. Go find yourself a sword, not a quill." Heartbroken but not broken, Clive learned to survive in a world that judged him solely on appearances; if academia would not welcome him, perhaps there were other avenues through which he could pursue knowledge. Over the years, Clive persisted. He sought tutelage from private scholars, offering his labor in exchange for their wisdom. But time and again, he was met with the same prejudice. His size and perceived lack of refinement were seen as insurmountable barriers to acceptance., With every closed door, Clive’s curiosity only grew. He would sneak into the local library in Salkamar whenever he could escape chores, He read whatever he could find, hiding in the shadows of the library, absorbing knowledge and gleaning wisdom from travelers, merchants but alas even that was not meant to last, Librarian catched Clive and forbade him from setting foot in Library ever again "We cannot have such a… brute… disgracing our halls". Fed up with Salkamar, Clive scraped together enough coin selling some of his meager possessions and secured passage on a merchant ship bound for island of Illarion. The journey was rough, the food bland, and the company even worse, but the image of Runewick's silent halls of learning spurred him onward. | ||||||||||
