I dunno. I know I've said this a lot on and off over the years, but really, bringing back how things "used to be" (the days when Serpardum was a GM before some bright minds decided to make Illarion resemble boot camp) would make this game a whole lot more popular (while still keeping the g...

Re: where the rp is at

basicly i noticed that every now and then, even though there are like 18 people on line i dont even run into one... So i had this idea, why not if there is an interesting roleplay, or multiple people in one spot, or even just 1 person looking for someone to roleplay with, just post here... Im sure ...

What sort of system doesn't reward powergaming? Right? One thing that has never really been defined in Illarion - powergaming. What is it? Nonstop training for 4 hours? 2 hours? 30 minutes? What? You can't stop players from wanting to make their characters powerful in the shortest amount of time po...

Problem is, there's nothing to do outside of Trollsbane.

I think we should concentrate on getting more than 16 people online a day before we worry about populating cities.

I oppose any thieving system as long as catching people is as huge pain in the ass as it currently is. Simply because a system where the success of thieving no longer depends from the cooperation of the victims, but where catching the thief depends on his cooperation will suck ass. You should consi...

The people arguing that you must pg your life away in order to be taken seriously ig are pissing me off. Surely you want to attract more players, not deter them from the game. Forcing them to sacrifice their life to the yard for a month before you recognise their rp is very counter-productive. Ther...

I admit I did not read the posts above. But I feel the need to post my criticism on the current skill system. Many aspects are very good and must not be kaputtrepariered, as Avalyon pointed out. Good Aspects Learning by doing - you get better in what you do Steep learning curve - higher levels are ...

I enjoy a mix of having a character with high, badass fighting skills and the roleplaying that's involved. Open endedness is fun too...my only beef with the current system is that it takes so much time and effort to do things that would otherwise be fun. For example, Konstantin pointed this out...it...

Once upon a time you could drink beer (or "yellow potions" back in the day) with your buddies while you killed ogres and took their money. Now those were good times, before Northerot was even built.

Face it, most of net users don't want to roleplay. This is why illa will never be as successful as other games unless it gets a lot more lenient. That depends on your definition of "role playing." I call it bringing your character to life by giving him his own personality and not mixing i...

Back then the technical system was much more loose and random, which was more fun to some. These days it isn't bad, but maybe if it had more commercial appeal more people would play?

I've been playing and going on the forums off and on for about 5 years, almost 6.

If you can't beat them, join them. Playing a bad guy is hard when he's overt about everything he does. The real well played bad guys are ones that accept society won't accept them for doing their deeds openly, so they do it in secret with no desire for recognition. Has nobody learned anything from t...

Since the account system was introduced.

NPC Monster Suggestion

My newest character Mortanius trains to fight at the tombs, and I notice that the mummies on the first level are very easy - with average weapons and armor, he is able to dispatch many of them without losing half of his health. However when he reaches the second level below, it takes one or two mumm...

I agree Garett, but the reason this post was written was to calm down those who are increasingly frustrated with the technical side of Illarion, or at least help them think in a more lackadaisical manner about it. It's true that one should have their skills and role playing hand in hand, but people...

Thoughts Regarding Skill Raising,

I'm aware that for the last couple of years I have complained a lot about the skill system - I have called it slow, time consuming, etc. etc. But I'm making this topic to put some other players' minds at ease if they ever find themselves frustrated with the system. Illarion is a game meant to be pl...

It depends on what you're fighting and how good you are, really. For instance, with Maggie: if I fight a pig with swords, I will 'try' to learn slashing weapons each time I make a strike. If I use my staff, I learn nothing. If I'm fighting a mummy with swords, I will 'try' to learn slashing with ea...
