The Apple

Post by Kyre »

A dark haired elfess works tirelessly attempting to find just the right combination muttering ...

This new land is hard.. everything is different, subtle changes can cause everything to be off.

Adding this and that strange ingredients.. feathers, eyes and other things collected, she lightly snaps her metal fingers together and sighs..

Forgot the egg.

Finally returning, the dawn light beginning to shine on her pale skin, she cracks the egg over her concoction then gently dips the apple in before setting it on the table to dry. Once dry she uses gloves to carefully pick it up, then makes the long trip finally arriving at her destination. Laying it tenderly by the door getting the exact position, she nods and with a grin turns... yawning more then once on her way home before stopping to call up to the sky at a shadow swooping over her.

There.. is that better Nargun?

A low painful moaning wakes Evie from her sleep. Where was she and who was making the noise? As her mind clears two things are obvious; the pitful sound is coming from her own throat and her head feels like Uhuru hit it with her favorite axe. As she swings her feet of the bed to rise the room begins to spin and she topples into the floor. Her figure then makes a very slow undignified crawl to a bucket she keeps in the corner before losing the contents of her stomach.

Pushing red hair out of her face she pauses, Red? .. when had her hair got changed back? Holding onto the wall she stumbles out of her flat to the depot for fresh cloths, food and water. Items in hand she pauses seeing an apple on her doorstep, not even pausing she picks up and hauls it inside placing on the table by the lantern she lights.

How had she got so ill? She remembered the meeting, what a meeting so much anger and fighting and everyone wanting things done but no one stepping forward. She was disappointed in her town. The feeling had carried over to the Don's chambers.. they sat down and she had some wine.. after that things are unclear. Shaking her head she takes a bite of the apple chewing slowly hoping her stomach will settle as she flips through some notes her new eye glasses perched on her nose. Such weird dreams last night.. she dreamed of Mel and Rock both of which she hadn't seen in years. So realistic was the dream she could even smell the hint of hot metal that clings to a smith no matter how much they bathe or change.

As she begins to scribble a response to the Don she continues to eat her apple and jot notes to the side about where to go for a vacation. Somewhere with magic was a must her mind and her body were wore thin. Thick rich mana streams .. was wrote and underlined several times. Somewhere not here for sure. She fetches a kid from the flats and sends him to Miggs with the note and crawls back in bed the half eaten apple sitting on her table still.

Slightly mollified when hearing about the after-math of the meeting as Oxi pointed out how strong their bond was, agreeing she could feel it's strength, the plan came to life as she prepared the apple. Waiting for Oxi and the children to sleep, she carried the rest through making, hopefully the perfect one.

Possibly one day she would mention it to him, after all Oxi seemed very tolerant of most things she did. Maybe tomorrow or maybe later she would bring it up casually not liking to keep secrets from him for long yet Evie needed a little reminder that a witch just might be around her Smith so leaning on his shoulder, him bring her home drunk may not be a good thing to do often, if ever. Gone was any plan to congratulate her for the work as chancellor.

Serving a breakfast of sausages warmed over the fire muttering as usual about missing her mage powers, adding them to the table with apples, grapes, various other fruits and a loaf of bread completed the morning routine except attempting to trick her daughter into wearing a dress. Having had no sleep the effort was more trying then usual yet Kyre was still excited wishing to see the fruition of her efforts. With the town stirring, she dropped Teilra off at the nanny's and waved to Oxi and Finn planning to meet them later at the workroom with some mention of having to do a little research.

The spell she knew previously on Gobaith could simply turn into something different here or just not work at all, the disadvantage with all witch spells. Far too curious though, she had to find out and didn't want to wait.

The pain in her head was marginally better as Evie slipped from her flat locking the door later that day. A hand rubs at her stomach as a grimace crosses her face. "I really should never drink." Discounting any off feelings in her stomach as side effects to the drinking she heads to the library to start making lists for the towns building projects to give to Miggs.

Sitting in her normal spot in the library she begins emptying her bag. Parchments, an old notebook, ink, quills, an the half eaten apple are soon spread on the table. Taking a dagger the apple is trimmed of any brown spots before sliced and set aside for quick grabbing. The apple had been the only food she had manged to make herself eat today. Hangovers were so horrible. "I must remember to thank Raina for bringing me home." There is no doubt in her mind that Raina was the one to do the task, who else would have.
