"Enchanting" weapons.

Post by LifeWonder »

Well, there's two runes that are completely useless now. (LEV and FHAN)

How about giving mages the ability to "enchant" swords that have the possibility to be magical? (Serinjas, axes, etc..)

Example of what enchanting a Serinjah with lightening would cost/need.

Needs the runes JUS PHER DUN QWAN LEV & FHAN
Needs commotio at ~85%
Costs the full mana bar
Costs 2-3% of the enchanter's commotio skill
Temporarily lowers the magic-related attributes by 2
Risk of failure that will still cost all the things above including the weapon (or it weakens the weapon considerably).

Example of what enchanting a broadsword with fire would cost/need.

Needs the runes KEL RA DUN QWAN LEV & FHAN
Needs commotio at ~85%
Cost the full mana bar
Costs 2-3% of the enchanter's commotio skill
Temporarily lowers the magic-related attributes by 2
Risk of failure that will still cost all the things above including the weapon (or it weakens the weapon considerably).

I'm not going to list all the magical attributes of all weapons, as I'm sure you know what I mean, and obviously, the examples up there were taken off my head, they might be completely erroneous, but I'm still sure you know what I mean. :P

Edit: I was just told you can do all these with pure elements.. so.. uh, disregard the proposal if you want. <_<

i like the thought to enchant weapons. however i think adding to magic would be annoying to program and irksome to those waiting for the reintroduction of druid magic.

You can't chant more than five runes btw.

Commotio is the school of desctruction and it would more fit into pervestigatio(Creation) or Desicio(control).
Problem there is, no one would be able to do these enchantments, because almost noone posesses LEV or FHAN.

The Spell itself soudns a bit strange "transporting and pulling a big windy pain over a great distance" orl is completly missing in the Spell itself.

Another thing to add..loosing skill on such a high level makes the spells itself extremly useless unless you powergame them up again anyway.

Should be transfreto/formo, no?

Don't say "Fhan" just because it's inactive, that's stupid. It makes no sense to be there.

LEV is complicated because most people I've spoken to say it means transportation, especially because that's what it said in the old book, but then some german people have told me that was a typo and it was really meant to say transformation, in which case it'd work. But I don't think just using the spell would work. Plus, why DUN? Magical serinjahs just cast JUS PHERC QWAN, so surely JUS PHERC QWAN LEV would work.

And secondly: Pure elements anyone?

LEV once had the spell LEV PEN which transported Mana from one Mage to another, which was sadly taken out, but regarding this, transportation should be the right word unless the Gm's changed the meaning of the rune.

Magic weapons would have to be a lot more durable then, otherwise it just isn't worth the expense or the effort.

The symbol for LEV is a boat.

Therefore unless the meaning of LEV is transformation into a boat...

I think it's safe to assume it means transportation.

Plus the fact that it lies between FHAN (Bringing) and FHEN (Sending), or is it vice versa I can never remember. Alex?
