Do people....
Hi. I just sent in the request for my character today...can't wait to get accepted. I have a question because i have searched long and hard to find a game like this. Do people role play this in-game as much as the RPG part of the forums suggest? If they do, you will be sure to see me in the game more than your average player. As stated above, i have been searching for a game where people actually role play. Since i haven't been able to find one till now, my role playing may not be up to par yet. Just hang in there with me until i get my wits about me. Well, i haven't anything else to say, so i guess i'll finish my speech so that i may pour over the many tomes on the message board in town. Well, not exactly in town since i can't play yet, but you all know what i mean.
Well, of course in game...I looked at this game around the end of March, but I didn't really have enough time to play then and since i didn't get a reply about my char, i figured it was rejected.
At that time I read the post started by Alice entitled Please. I liked what I saw. It had gone from just Alice wanting...why am I going through what it was about?..It was about your char to start with, I'm sure you know what it was about. I guess what I'm rambling on about is just the fact that I liked how just a simple plea from what seems like a simple girl turned into a small version of a political debate.
One last thing...Do you think my name is good enough? Just to give you something to go by..he is an Elven Wizard.

I know of a couple other actual roleplaying games, but they are both text, so many people overlook them. I'm not trying to put you off Illarion, it just seems like you might like these also. They are Arcane Realms, and Shadows of Isildur. Arcane Realms is a medieval roleplaying-game set in Wales in 855 AD. It is more realistic than Illarion, with an even smaller playerbase. It would be a great game if there were ever more than four people on at once. Shadows of Isildur is, of course, a completely-Tolkien based game. It takes place in the year 2466 (Steward's Reckoning), before Frodo and such. It has a larger playerbase than Illarion, and some similar measures taken to prevent powergaming. In fact, I think some of the measures implemented in SoI would be useful in Illarion
Just so you know, while Illarion seems to be the only graphical true RPG, there are many text ones--these are just ones I happened to come across, and like.

Malzahn is rejected. It's the name of a dragon in a german story for children. Choose another one, please. And read the namerules again.
And no further *is my name good* questions, please.

Seesh...Took me about an hour to come up with that name. I made it up myself. I live in America, and have never heard of any German stories, so I couldn't have known about a dragon named Malzahn. I just thought the name (that I used about 45 minutes of bugging my friends to come up with) sounded kind of catchy, especially for a fantasy world such as this.
As I stated in my previous post, I didn't want to know if anybody thought the name was good for my character, I just wanted to know if it had a chance to be accepted as a valid name for a person in a fantasy setting like this!
I could care less if you thought it was a good name for my character, because I like it.
You know, if the Gamemasters of this game are so rude, I don't know if I want to play this game.
Maybe I'll check out Shadows of Isildur more than I had planned...

mhh... I live in good old Germany and even I dont know this story : )
And I can tell you, I read a lot of fantasy books, mythic books and so on : )
But dont worry, just conside another name and you will get in the game.
By the way I have another question:
Can you use some words from the elbish dictionary from Tolkin ? For example the elbish word for wizzard or something else ? I just used it in the title, but i dont wanna make a mistake : )

I don't like this imputation.Malzahn wrote:Hehe. I think the Guildmaster is just trying to find a way to reject that name because I asked how it was, but that's not how it is at all, as I have stated twice before.
You think I'm rude? I answered you factual and in a friendly way, I think. Believe me, you will recognize, if I'll be rude.
Btw. Malzahn is known as
Frau Malzahn a dragon who kidnapps children. From the story
Jim Knopf und die wilde 13
which I loved as a child.

It's often a good idea to take the names you come up with and run them through some kind of search engine, like google, to make sure you don't come up with any words--or stories--at least anything in German. When I ran 'Malzahn' through google, I didn't come up with the dragon story, but I did come up with the fact that it's the last name of Christian Sci-fi writer, and a not-uncommon surname.
