Any actually active Mageteachers around?

Everything about Illarion that fits nowhere else. / Alles über Illarion was inhaltlich in kein anderes Board passt.

Any actually active Mageteachers around?

Post by Felbion Lijawyn »

Not to be pissy, I get that it might take a long time to get a place as a student and all when I look at the amount of applications on the academy board and the amount of teachers to take them. But I've posted felb's application like a week ago, sent a "dove" to some of the teachers and paid regular visits to the academy to try to find an actual mage ig. Non of this was successful. I haven't found any mage ig, didn't get any sign that my application was registered and the pms haven't even been opened yet. So I beg the question: Are there even any of the Mageteachers left? Or have they all gone to RL to never be seen again?

Honestly. if you really read the walls it becomes apparent why mage teachers have become drastically less active.

The academy was restarted under new management and with the most active teachers we could find at the time. But despite making various chances for RP, holding lessons for students and making ourselves available, what we ended up getting was just a bunch of applications and very little actual activity from the players of said students.

Thus the activity in the academy dropped accordingly. Do not think for one second to blame the PO 'teachers' who took time to reopen the academy so that people could actively learn from the magic system once again. Blame all those people who applied characters that they had no intention of RP'ing with, instead wanting to simply receive runes for free. the academy is only as active as the players choose to make it.

The days of learning from other players will probably come to an end soon. Hopefully though we do not receive the flood of poorly played mages we have in the past..

As to your application, i will take a look at it, but i believe archmages make the final choice.

Sorry if you felt offended, wasn't my intention of blaming anyone. I just wondered if it made sense to try to get a teacher at the academy at the moment at all or if there was no way because they all quit or something. Thanks for the quick answer and sorry again.

Its also worth mentioning that the players of applicants arent entirely blameable... Like myself, I applied at a poor time IRL because i've been busy day after day after day.

In other words,
Teachers do immense effort in scheduling meetings\classes
Students cant make room for the classes
Teachers get upset about the inactivity

This ends up causing a bad downward cycle, which is probably why they are changing the mage teaching system.

If you read the mage board, there are two mandatory classes. Wait until they are offered then if can't go, send a PM...suggestion only. In the mean time, RP your mage char and have fun with him/her.
