Invalid Character.

Whenever I load up the Illarion client I get a message box that pops up saying "Invalid Character." I click okay and another identical box appears. When I okay this the login screen loads up. When I log in with any character a further box pops up, which I again okay. The client seems to work perfectly aside from this.

I've tried the usual steps of re-installing illa/java and updating graphics drivers.
Does anyone know whats going on here and is it any cause for concern?

Aaaaah, its starting to spread!

Now it occasionally pops up while the game is already running.

Anyone had any ideas as to what could cause it?

Had something similar happen a few years ago though may not be your case, but an office program took over one of the files of Illarion. I got into files and changed the property back to open with original.

A screenshot of the error message (so the window that displays the error) would be helpful.

Not exactly the most helpful error message in the world I know.

Not sure how much help, but both places suggest to change your network settings if have already tried a different java:
