Couple of questions.

Post by Alexander Knight »

Hey Illarionites :D
Ermm just wondered if i you lot could clear up a few questions for me.

1. What is the deal with owning a piece of land? Do you have to buy it IG from a leader and how long until you can build on it?

2. It is possible to make another town? I'm not talking something the size of Vanima but just a few lodges like a small fishing village.

3. Is there any way to find out history or attributes of some of the town from the mainland as it would help character development and storys of the character because we all know about Gobaith, Salkamar and Gynk but what about the other towns and villages like Laris, Pennymill and Karras

4. Is there anyway us players could help expand Illarion, even if its writing reviews on the RPG games websites or even make a topic in RPG forums, because it would considerably expand our player database.

5. Can someone explain what the whole magic system fault is, i've got a general idea but i feel i've only scraped the surface.

6. 5. Where is Gobaith on the map because i have been told its the little spray mark next to the E in ocean but that just looks like a smudge.

If its okay i might post a few more on here as my minds gone a bit bland at the moment...

2. There are already far too many towns, we don't want to spread out playerbase even thinner. If you want a 'fishing town' go live in Zzyathis ;)

3. There's a very detailed/boring history in the main page. You can make stuff up though if you want. You can come from Ubertown which is a tiny village where men wear skirts.

4. You can make NPCs (which is very easy), you can help promote it to friends who are interested in roleplaying, you can learn how to script and become a scripter...

5. The fault is that to teach you need a teacher to learn magic, and the amount of teachers who can teach everything is around 3 or 4. Also you need to teach a max of 2 runes a week to a max of 3 students (who also need to gather a lot of skill to learn). That's the main problem, it takes months and months to train a single mage (who then goes inactive! :P)

Wouldnt it be worth while a GM or DEV making a mage teacher up? Because then we wont have any inactive people because they are bound by blood order

Yeah i know of 3 chars who teach magic but why is it so hard? I mean why dont they give out the final rune so the art could be passed along? even if they make it one of the first runes to teach so the magic wont doe out all together? fair enough you will get a hand full of people who think they will be full mages cos they can KEL RA but you could tell them appart (Cos one will kill you instantly and the other just burn your eyebrows off)

Once, only GMs taught runes and it worked out for a short time. But then it was decided to pass the teaching on to the players and the result, well, you can see.

GMs have enough to do, I doubt anyone of us will waste his time to support this messed up system. I can sell runes at the marketplace for 100cp tomorrow, but I will never be able to play a real teacher.

On the other questions, Hadrian summed it all up and if you need detailled informations, check out those links:

It's because teachers are players too and eventually players get bored, just like everyone else does.

Only difference is that we're teachers and people who haven't gotten bored of Illa yet need us so it seems like we're not doing our job.

But I'm pretty sure all teachers teach actively when they're actually playing Illa.
