Bane Thornwood wrote:Hey to all. I'm new to the game but I've played a bit over the last few days and am starting to get into it and trying to learn most things IG but I have a few questions I hope all you guys can answer

I went over most of this forum already so I don't think these are asked already.
1. Can you really destroy buildings and things with fire? Don't want to try IG in case a mob kills me for burning the town
2.Is there anywhere I can find an up-to-date map of the island that would show what town/guilds claim what territory?
3.What happens with say a big public death? Like say the Queen of Silverbrand hired an assassin to kill the Duchess of Troll's Bane or something for a good RP reason like gaining political influence. Would she be "dead" and there be a new duke/duchess elected or would she just carry on as duchess? (I'm just using this as an example to see how a sort of big public death would be expoected to work)
4.Is there anywhere I can find out whats been implemented or suspended and such? Like is magic still around or Herb lore for example? Cause its very confusing to see all the talk about it in the forums and then it said about it not being around anymore and I'm afraid to ask IC cause if its not in the game anymore my char shouldnt even know about it.
5.Are there Skill Caps or can you only be so good at certain things? I didn't pay too much attention to my attributes cause I thought I could do whatever I wanted anyway but would like to know now in case I cant become a baker or whatever I finally decide to be.
Anyway that's all I can think of for now. Thanks for your time and hopefully see you all IG soon

I'd be glad to answer as many questions as I can

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong for whatever reason.
1) If I remember correctly, yes, fires can destroy buildings. I don't remember if they affect walls or not, but the items inside can be destroyed.
2) I'm pretty sure there's one around somewhere, I'll go search for it and add a link to it if I find one.
3) If someone were to die/be killed permanently (what we call perma-death) then yes, the character would be dead in all aspects, someone would take over their role if they were in a position of power, etc. However: people are not allowed to decide whether another player's character goes through perma-death. If the player in question has given consent and agreed that the character will die, then things can be roleplayed accordingly with an execution or such.
This makes things difficult, however, when it comes to situations in which the other player does not give consent for the execution. For this reason, characters usually refrain from roleplayed assassinations (or planning any public ones) until consent has been given.
4) Magic is implemented, yes. The current way to learn magic is to join the magic academy (or the Varshikar Magic University or something, don't know much about this one) and find a mage teacher who will teach your character the runes to perform magic.
Druidism and herblore are also implemented, druidism is rather new as well, so most are still trying to figure things out. I think it's a very interesting and an amazing system!
So far, the priest system and bard system are under concept development.
5) There is a skill cap that resets after a certain amount of time has expires. All in all, you -could- level up every skill* to the max if you dedicated lots of time to it. But you can only earn so much skill in one day.
*Except magic and druid skills, those two cannot both be learned.
