*Nods*

I'm working on getting a hold of a software called Cubase (Which Nitram referred to me).

When I get it, I'll see if it's easier to work on MIDIs with it.

Here's my problem.

I made a short melody using Fruity Loops Studio 8.

Now I saved it as MP3, and it sounds great and all: http://boomp3.com/listen/byume8qar_n/townmelody

Then I saved it as MIDI, and it sounds weird and monotoned: http://www.filefactory.com/file/e3c63b/ ... 2_MIDI_mid

Any clue why? Or is it that it works fine but I need a special player to hear the MIDI well?

And then when you were hesitant about getting it I said "Or you could try Cubase." Then you just said "No, its alright".

One thing I tell you.

Do not even think about converting mp3/ogg/wav/mp4 to midi. Forget it, that doesn't work. Midi is a sequence. It contains no sounds it contains informations what kind of sound should be played when. The sounds you hear itself are in other files.

mp3/ogg/wav/mp4 contain the sounds itself. Thats the reason why mp3/ogg/wav/mp4 sound the same on every computer and midi sounds different.

I hate to be like this, but I much prefer adding my own soundtrack with youtube/itunes. If a soundtrack was to be added I might check it out, but sooner of later I'd get fed up with it and disable it again.

There are some programms that offer the possiblity to export it as midi. But be sure the result will sound like crap. Always.

Then I continue my quest to find a software that lets you create nice-sounding MIDIs that isn't too hard.

I have created a series of harp midis, each 9 sec in length with increasing difficulty and complexity.

http://midishrine.com/midi/23588.mid
http://midishrine.com/midi/23589.mid
http://midishrine.com/midi/23590.mid
http://midishrine.com/midi/23591.mid

created with the freeware Anvil Studio

It's only 9 sec, but I think you get the idea

I like it. I suggest you take number four, add some other instruments into it, and put it as the background music for the Grey rose because it sounds very classy. Ofcourse, that means I will have to stay around the grey rose for a long long time.

It's the only harp instrument I've found in the general midi set :/ ("Orchestral string" or "Orchestral harp")
