Hello all.
Is it possible to somehow know what the account people rate new applicants on?
Not to sound horribly elitist or anything like that, but a lot of newcomers have emminently shown their lack of understanding of roleplaying aswell as shown utter andcomplete disregard for game rules... and yet they still made it through the account application thingy...
Might it be suggested that the requirements be beefed up quite a bit?
It almost feels as though this new application thing has had noeffect at all...

The account system is effective. But it lacks against people of the kind "I absolutely don't get the point but it sounds like fun."
Those, especially younger, players have nothing bad in mind but fromtheir lack of understanding they have someone help them with major parts of the story and explaining the sense of roleplaying to them. which they can't keep up once they are in game. Those people surely have the potential to become good roleplayers, but they need to get a little bit more mature first.

The advantages of the account system are at least two:
- very bad players are turned away
- if a bad player gets another person to write the story for him, he will get the account - but it will take about a week. If he then misbehaves and will get banned, he can't just create a new character and log back in. He has to apply for an account again and wait for a week. If the person writing the story for him, is one of his parents, they might get suspicious why he had been banned and won't allow him to play further.

I do agree with Bror... Whats really funnny is that when I first started I was probably just as bad as all of the new players at roleplaying. But unless they talk ooc ALL the time I see no reason not to give them a chance. It takes a little time to become a decent roleplayer. I mean there ARE SOME bad ones that get thru. But nothing is always 100% percent effective. Truly when they get someone else to write it for them. So even thou they may be bad at first all we can do is give them some help and a chance.

I remember when i first started, i wasn't on 1 hour, and Sir Gannon yelled at me because i wasn't roleplaying since i had very little clue what i was doing. Which also brings up another topic. I have let people play on my character supervised so that when they get their character, they know what to do and can roleplay correctly. Otherwise, they don't know since there is no real tutorial, and they walk around screaming ooc stuff. What is wrong with what i am doing?

Paul is right. It was only because he let me play while supervising me for a few minutes that I wanted to join Illarion. He also taught me how to do many things in the game.paul laffing wrote:I have let people play on my character supervised so that when they get their character, they know what to do and can roleplay correctly. There is a tutorial. browse the site, and check out Moonsilver's realm aswell, and you will know everything you need to know to get started. If you cannot even be arsed to do so, you probably wouldn't be a good player anyway.Otherwise, they don't know since there is no real tutorial, and they walk around screaming ooc stuff. Where does this apply to me? I did not let him borrow it, i didn't trade it for a new character, and i didn't sell it to him. I only supervised him using the character.Loki Feuerhaar wrote:There is only one "little problem", it is forbidden by rules.
Yours,12. Character trading
Characters can not be borrowed, exchanged or sold to anyone.

@Dyluck
If you are going to quote someone use the entire sentence.
He said SUPERVISED which means he was sitting right there the whole time. Which would be no different than Paul doing it himself.
If he was letting someone borrow the character than he would not be surpervising but be somewhere else. This could be considered powergaming because you could keep a character going on and on between different players while the others were away. But Paul was not away, he was supervising.

I wonder why there is a complaint but I really see nothing wrong with the system as it is. Although if you think about it. Not many people that aren't RPG hungry would wait that long just to get into a game. Most kids at my school found out that I did this and joined this game and they thought it was quite weird what I did just to get into a game. (my parents got a hold of the story I wrote and sent it to my teacher. Never know what she will do with it!!)
i agree with kasume. Just that the person takes the time to send in an application and answer the question shows that they want to play, and during there waiting time they will most likely look at all the stuff on the website and see how to play, all the site needs is some basic stuff like hold shift and click on item then what you want to use it on to do an action. People are always asking how do that

I dunno about the application system. It took me two minutes to write the application, and then i emailed it in and i was accepted. But then again, i am very creative and intelligent.

My parents didn't even know i had to send an application and they wouldn't care. I guess they know how smart i am.(my parents got a hold of the story I wrote and sent it to my teacher. Never know what she will do with it!!)
