Baking
Greetings!
Something I would like to propose would be a new item to be used for baking in illarion. Instead of having dough used with a campfire to be made into bread I suggest having a new graphic made to be used specifically for baking purposes. This would be like the "glass-melting oven" which is used for only glass making purposes. This object could be called...Oven or "Baking Oven" etc. etc. I think it does not really make sense to have dough roasted over a open campfire and be able to be turned into bread, hence this proposal for an oven for baking.
Thank you for reading, helpful comments, and input appreciated!

Exactly-Jamie Oliver, etc.
I think that this idea is excellent as baking over a campfire is quite illogical.
Firstly the shape of the rolls etc, would not be what it resembles if a campfire was really baking 6them.
There needs to be a constant of heat from all sides to provide the correct shape.
Ps...
Perhaps a new cake could also be implemented-fruit cake...
We have enough fruits now to make one.

@Brendan Whether or not an oven was placed in Silverbrand would depend on the dwarves. The dwarves would have to pay for an oven if it were placed in Silverbrand, I believe, because Silverbrand is private party...same with the tavern. I think if ovens are to be implemented that a special building should be built for ovens to be placed in...called the Bakery. I do not think the oven fits in the Workshop environment as the workshop is for blacksmiths mainly with all the anvils and the gemcutter.

As it is now there are only a few items that can be baked and these could all be cooked over an open fire using a flat rock placed at the edge. If there are so called Rangers or adventurers in the land they will need to eat and cook warm food so there must be the option to cook over an open fire. I would agree that if there are going to be more advanced baking items then a baking oven would be a nice addition but everyone needs to eat but not to eat the finer baking creations that would be done by a professional. Possible rolls or a loaf of bread baked over a fire would sell for less than a loaf baked in a baking oven because it wouldn't be as nicely shaped but it could still be made. This really is something that's should be in the back of the book of things to do however. Yet still a nice idea with some revisions.
@Niniane All the baking items we have now would be virtually impossible to be baked over a wild campfire, but would realistically need a baking oven to be produced. As for rangers etc., such people did not bake in the wild. They usually brought with them "hardbread" like biscuits that would not rot for a long time for journeys. What such people ate in the wild was the pre-pared "hard bread" etc., and possibly if lucky some meat they got from hunting. Also wild plants would have been consumed.
@Niniane Whether or not I have gone camping in the 21st century has no relevance whatsoever to whether or not starting a fire or baking bread over a blazing campfire was easy in the medieval ages. Nowadays of course starting a fire even in the wild is easy as we have all this technology to help us. Baking bread over a open campfire is even possible nowadays with all the new manufactured items such as movable ovens and all. Certain things are easily cooked over a campfire. Things such as pork. Items such as dough would be scorched over a campfire. Do you really believe that one can bake a cake over a campfire? The difficulty of starting a fire has already been discussed, and doesnt belong to this topic...

Please read all the posts. I said nothing of modern instruments. The reason I asked if you had ever gone camping is because you're speaking as if what you say is the absolute truth when in fact if you have never gone camping and attempted any of these things you're talking about then you have absolutely no ground to stand on when making your argument. If you have gone out with friends and tried any of those things you should have realized it was quite simple if the person knew what they were doing (which many people living in the illarion setting would if they had to do something like that every day or learned at a young age as they would in this the time frame illarion is set in) You could cook along side the fire using a flat rock to cook on top of (as stated earlier). You don't have to hold something directly over a fire in order to cook using a fire. You don't have to have a blazing fire to cook either. You could cook on a hot rock next to or on top of hot coals. They would not be scorched. Just because the graphic for the game now shows a fire and then ash does not mean a fire burns in this manner. It would dwindle and turn into a bed of coals at which point you could cook anything on top of it or next to it without burning the item with the flame. It is possible to cook dough using a campfire and is done so today by a few nomad tribes living in the Sahara desert where they cook the dough on the embers under the sand. It's commonly called 'sand bread' if you would like to take some time and how it's done. If you're going to cook on top of a hot rock next to or on top of embers you could theoretically cook anything you wanted. Cakes too.
Also as a note. When you respond to people telling them their comments are unnecessary as they do not add to the conversation at hand you're doing the same thing as they are and only perpetuating the problem.
