Removal of the #i command.
Moderator: Gamemasters
I have to agree on this. I also complained once that one cannot introduce with a fake name.
The removal of the #i command would solve the problem that the other player is suspicious because of OOC knowledge of the fake name. Even if one is not a "bad" roleplayer it is much harder to play it right with this OOC knowledge.
Thus Estralis suggestion wouldn´t work, too.

I have run across a few instances of a char using some ooc knowledge known by the PO, ig and chalk it up to hopefully they will eventually learn. I try very hard not to do the same, however I am concerned with changing the game to accomodate bad RPing, even though I am not fond of the #i system for a number of reasons.
No Az, the thing is they're not breaking rules, they're just roleplaying very badly.
Example:
Someone(123456): I am Theonord Livmard.
Someone(789101): A pleasure, I am Uruthar Leissa
Someone(123456): A pleasure.
Uruthar Leissa: The pleasure's mine..
Uruthar Leissa: ((May I get an #i?)
Someone(123456): ((You'll have to !name, sorry.))
Uruthar Leissa: On second thoughts, are you sure your name is Theonord Livmard? Does sound rather fishy..
Uruthar Leissa seems a little bit suspicious.
That's just plain annoying.

Uruthar Leissa: Well what do you do around here ...Theonord?
I just hate the ooc influence that so many use.

Dude.
When you meet someone on the streets, you introduce to each others, does he show you his I.D. to prove his name is really ____ ?
No.
You will then remember that this person is known as ____ , because you've recognized him as ____ .
I really think YOU should be allowed to recognize someone however you like. What if your character is slightly deaf and didn't hear the pronunciation correctly?
Besides, I dislike the idea of someone else 'forcing' his/her name to appear on your screen.

If you read my other posts instead of according to 1 you'll see that I say we must implent that system <.<AlexRose wrote:And there are a lot who aren't, okay?Tinuva Geogroda wrote:You're a good rper or not.Retlak wrote:But you will know in ooc that is is fake, and that will affect how you think. which can ruin the fun in alot of cases.
#i [fakename] seems like a great idea.
Yes, I know that...Tinuva Geogroda wrote:If you read my other posts instead of according to 1 you'll see that I say we must implent that system <.<AlexRose wrote:And there are a lot who aren't, okay?Tinuva Geogroda wrote: You're a good rper or not.

That's why I wrote it; I was saying I liked the idea.

oh my god listen. Not #i'ing ever is retarded, its best to add something to make EVERYTHING work instead of doing away with a well working and simple system.Karl wrote:Exactly. Estralis' suggestion wouldn't work. We want the other player to REALLY not know what the character's real name is, or have any suspicions whether the name is real or fake.
If a system was implemented where you can #i a FAKE NAME then people WONT know if you gave them a fake or real name. Good solution without your nonsenical idea of never using #i.
Or wait till you see them ig, type the name you want to give them, right click on them and press give name.pharse wrote:Yes...probably introducing with a fake name would be the best solution. But then one should also be able to rename chars as much as desired. At the moment if I want to rename an already introduced char I have to edit the names.tbl.
And if you say "But I might not see them", well then what's the big deal of them having a bad name if you never see them?
Why not? As far as I know you can. !name can rename people who've already #i'd, so I don't see why give name shouldn't.Karl wrote:Oh if they're able to script in an #i <fake> command, then I'm all for it. But the thing is, then, the other players won't be able to re-name me, in case they find out another name of mine, or something..
