New skill system = newbie kill system?

Post by Berengar »

Hello,

I took a quite long brake, so maybe what I have to say had already been said, but inspite of that I ll say it again.... well, I LL JUST START :)

The new skill system has got many advantages:
its more realistic, because not everybody is a master
there wont be much people who are master in 2 or 3 proffesions, so you will have to cooperate little more
Newbies don t ask as many stupid questions like "can I have a firesword" because the havent got the time for talking :)
...

BUT
If you are new, or try to start a new char, like I did, the new system has got the following advantages:
Don t know any
Can t imagine any
Damn, thats frustrating and unfair

It seems to me, that some people don t want new people to play Illarion. In my opinion the new system is only for the good and experienced players, who have already mastered a profession. Those people are glad with it, but I dont know any newbies who are.
So folks, imagine you would have to divide your smithing skill, or combat abilities by 10. I don t think any of us would be glad.
Well, what I want to say is , that to make the game 10 times harder is a little bit frustrating for newbies, especially for newbie fighters, because they die quite often. So, maybe you could think about the new system, or maybe stop people from losing their skills when dieing. Why dont make them losing all their stuff, because bodyless ghosts with armour, weapons an a bag?
Well, just remember the times when you stared with open mouths at an ingot.

Newbie killer? I wouldn't go that far because i was a newbie when the new skill system was around, and it isnt that bad, the first few days are confusing, but after that you get a handle on things

Probably skills like the game Tibia

Post by Trog Dor »

I haven't had my account activated yet but I'm assuming that these 10x harder skills than the last time I played (a half a year ago maybe) are now similar to training in Tibia (which sucks and don't you download it...). It would take 2-3 hours sometimes even 1-3 days if your skills got high enough in order to advance...Thing is that when you'd die you'd lose those 1-3 days and you'd just have to live with it. If you don't like it, don't play.

Hm... well I have lost the past fights with the new skill system and well for the sake of all and all newbies (even though i am not) I support Berenger.

Though there have been newbies trying to kill the older players because they are jealous or realy mad at the cockiness of older players(refering to those only who are cocky). Me and my friend were unfortunate targets the other day though it was my friend's fault in a way but they lost.

A few tips for the fighters out there going through the new system:
#1 DO NOT HESITATE TO RUN!
#2 DONT LOG-OUT WHEN LAGGED AND BEING ATTACKED BY A CREATURE, JUST TRY TO WALK AWAY!
#3 DONT LOG-OUT IN A DUNGEON!

Dying and losing a considerable amount of skill is a bit much for the averge heart to take and not get mad, but if you lose all your stuff it would be the same thing in way.

Thank you for your time.
Have a nice day. :D
