Greetings!
I would like to make a proposal concerning thread. First off, I think that thread is sold at too high a price by that human NPC. Two gold coins for one thread? When a new currency like copper comes the thread price would do better to be dropped to a few coppers, but for now I think two gold coins is too much and perhaps a lower price like one gold coin per thread might be better. Secondly, the only method by which one can obtain thread without buying it from the human NPC is by killing a monster, taking its insides, and using scissors to cut the insides into thread. What I propose is for their to be another method to obtain thread that is more peaceful, and would allow people who do not want to be fighters or fight and still be able to get thread without paying the human NPC. Perhaps a new herb/plant could be introduced like 'flax' and that plant could be gathered and made into thread instead. On the other hand, insides could have a new use like being able to be cut into rope. What use rope could have in illarion presently I do not know..., but if no use can be found for it perhaps it could be a "currently useless" item like the lamp. That is all! Thank you for reading.

I agree with you Elaralith, my chracter can't fight, she has to reley on freinds to get thread for her, if she wants to make a good profit, for the temple of course, but it's hard if she has to buy thread, because since she is still learning it is nearly impossible for her to make anymoney back from the thread if she buys it.

I like the idea of being able to smoke things in a carpentered pipe. It could add to roleplay. As for the funky colours...i don't really think that'd be appropriate...not to mention kinda sad...pretending your high off online weed....*shakes head*
Not to mention it would be kinda hard on the programmers too?

Just make the cocoa plant real expensive and have it boost your skills for a short time. It also has a small amout of poison that won't do anything unless the cocoa is taken in large doses. Then after the effects drop off, the skill begin to drop below where they originally were. They can only be restored by going for about 2 weeks without the cocoa or by taking more cocoa. Eventually if you keep taking more cocoa, the 2 weeks will change to 3 and you will require more (very expensive cocoa) to get the same boost to your skills. Then it requires 4 weeks and more cocoa. This pattern can go on and on and on. . . Eventually the poison will get you. Addiction is a very evil idea paul. I love it.

...Did you NOT hear me?
That would be my problem with you... Dont be foolish, of course bad things would happen if you were addicted to drugs. The main problem is people (like you) would eventually whine about how it isnt fair.. or that its TOO much loss.. or some BS like that.Cain Freemont wrote:you piss and moan about skills bad enough as it is

This has nothing to do with drugs... Just drop the drug business.. if you want to talk about drugs then make a new, annoying post.
Everyone else:
I like the idea of using cotton or some other such material to make thread... It could even be a skill. This would, in turn, allow more player interaction as people would buy thread from players rather than fighting zombies or buying from the NPC.

Yes, I also agree that thread is a little hard to come by. Possibly the intestines could give you 10 thread since they are hard to come by, and the plants could give you 1 thread since they are simple to obtain. As for hemp... it is the greatest plant! I once saw this store where you could buy 'hemp cement', the claimed it was 10 times as strong as normal cement. There was also hemp clothing, that was 10 times as warm, and... Anyway back on topic. I like the idea, keep fighting for tailor rights Elaralith!

I'm sorry i brought up the marijuana plant at the beginning which started the whole drug thing. I did not realise that some people could be so immature. Anyways this is a game, and drugs are very unappropriate.
As for teh hemp, i meant it in a serious way as hemp cord is quite popular, and as Korwin pointed out some other uses for it as well.

Firstly, the idea of Kevlar armour is to reduce dammage done by shrapnell. As we have no ´shrapnell weapons in Illarion, I dont quite see what it would be useful for.
Secondly, Kevlar is synthetic polymer, the fabrication of which requires quite extensive chemistry, which ios not available to us in Illarion, so it would be impossible for us to make anyway.

@Cain Thank you
@Korwin Don't you worry I'll never stop the fight for tailors
@Seth Kevlar...isn't it a synthetic material created using petroleum gas? A plastic I believe. I think such an item that belongs to the 20th century doesnt really fit in illarion...
As Separdum said their are no plants in illarion right now which thread could be made from as an alternative...but what I think could be used as an alternative to thread could be wool. Wool which can be spun into yarn right now...cannot yarn be also used for the same purpose as thread? They are both string-like materials. And even today yarn is used as a type of thread just as it was in the medieval ages.

Seth, the advantage of a kevlar armour is that once it has been penetrated, by shrapnell for argument's sake, it closes the holes made by itself. It's structure allows it to expand back in it's original position so as to retain maximum defensive properties even after having been violated by much evil shrapnell. Secondly it is relatively soft, which is why it is used mostly for shrap. it encapsulates the small pieces of metal and can effectiuvely slow them due to their small size, whereas a knife which has a continous momentum will hardly be affected at all.
