Dear Tjalf,

As far as I know, there is an internal power struggle within Caelum. At this moment, the citizens of Caelum have voted Sir William Elderberry out and decided upon Sir Cawdor as the sole leader.

A friendship and partnership between the two leaders has now become dissolved for various personal reasons.

It is an internal matter for Caelum. As a county, any of the member cities are 'independent'. There is nothing Greenbriar or the County can or should do in this situation. It is the will of the citizens of Caelum.

I hope this explains things.

yes, my dear friend,

that explains things.

when do YOU expect to be kicked out as well?

when will the county council vote 3 to 1, that the county will be governed by just one governer?

a friendly elf for instance?

keep your back free, and your money out of reach,

Mister Tjalf,

I fail to undestand why you've formed such a bad opinion of me? Have i offended you somehow maybe? I appologise if that was so, but i ask you.. please do not judge me, because you don't know what is truely happening in Caelum. Do not speak of things that are not familiar to you...

With respect,

I don't think that this new town should be treaten with hostility..

we must not see them as a foe because they did nothing to us.

We have no right to treat them with hostility, even if they wrongfully claimed the land.

They maybe criminals, but even criminals should be treaten fairily ...

Yes, they have take our lands but that's no reason to start a bloodshead.

I, Avalyon el'Hattarr, Head of Senate in the town of Caelum, nominate myself as the forth council member of the country of Briar

.....

"sir" Avalyon,

above some of your own writings on this board, i kept.

they clearly show, that you allways advocated the cause of Nalzaxx.

you did not offend me personally, you just sold out the hamlet of briar and the future of caelum.

but i ask you.. please do not judge me, because you don't know what is truely happening in Caelum.

yes, i know what is happenign in caelum. - nothing. because it does not exist.

what i dont know, is what is going on in your real home town, Hellbriar, below the vulcano.

yes, you were voted for by part of the people. by the other slaves of those crawly things under the mountain.
but you should not pretend, to talk for living and working inhabitants of the former Green Briar.

Not only by whom you refer to, but also by the citizens of Greenbriar. Had the citizens of Greenbriar and of the struggling-to-be-formed Caelum not voted also, Avalyon would not be in the position he currently holds.

I believe also, that if the citizens of the County of Briar do not like the way he is performing in his duty to represent all of the County of Briar (not only Greenbriar or Caelum or the Haven), then they have the right to call for a Vote of Confidence. If that vote does not go in his favor, he will be removed from his position.

Please to not insult the County Councilman by proposing that he is not in his position rightfully. It is an insult to all that has been worked for in creating a fair governance over the County of Briar.

As I have stated before, Avalyon's job is not to represent only Greenbriar, but the best interests of the other members of the County, and that includes the Haven. I hope I have made myself clear.

I am very sad to see a member of our community leave. I never met you but a loss of an individual of Greenbriar is a sad thing indeed. I would also like to say that I met Avalyon once though he did not know me. We never formally introduced. I was told it was him by another. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders and is very polite and courteous. He may be termed evil but we are all evil deep down inside. Some try to mask it by saying they fight for justice but they still perform evil deeds in their "heroic" crusades. I would also like to state that Richard Martins is termed evil but I have met him and spoken with him concerning Greenbriar and he was a great help. I wish you would meet with these people Master Kormson before you make impressions of them based on what you have heard. I do not ask you to come back to Greenbriar though you would be most welcomed...but I feel that people judging people before they get to know them or the reasons that drive them is very sad indeed, and is a major cause of most disputes. Please consider my words with my sincerest wishes of good will towards you and anyone else that feels the same way as you.

Sincerely,
Alderman Foraker of Greenbriar

dear sir,

here you err:
... people judging people before they get to know them ...
i know both of them.

you being new to the citizens list, i ignore, if you had known the green briar, as it used to be.

i settled down at the quietest, most friendly place, i had found on the whole island of gobaith.

the county of briar of today has nothing in common with that.

i can't feel myself at home in the briar anymore. it is that simple.

Dear Citizens,

I hope the day is shining down upon you cheerfully.

I regrettfully write this note to tell you that Neela Rabenfeder wishes to step down from her position of Alderman of Greenbriar and Forester of the County of Briar. I have enclosed the note she wrote to me in response to an issue I wrote to her about:

""dear rumil togrin,

i fear i can't be very often in town next time ((rl and this damn connection problems)). due this fact i want reatreat from my post as an alderman and forrester as soon as possible. i think there are others who can make this job better than me.
i will plant also in future new trees if i am in town. if you want a alderman who speak the new and old language, ask briggi blumenkind. i think she is interested.

i'll try to be on the council meeting, but i'm not sure if my time ((my connection) this allowed.

greetings neela ""

May the sun guide her in her endeavors.

As for the upcoming Town Meeting, I should be able to attend, though I am not certain yet. I look forward to the meeting, and do hope to be introduced to a fair amount of people that I have yet to meet.

May the sun shine warmly on your back and keep your eyes from glimpsing darkness.

With regrets,

Dearest Tjalf,

I am sorry that you feel Greenbriar is no longer the peaceful place you envisioned. There may be others that feel as you do. In that I have failed you and I apologize.

I too came to Greenbriar long ago, thinking it was the most peaceful place in Gobiath. Fate can be cruel. Not long after, we faced the most uncontrollable Evil since the former Empire of Darlok. What could we hope to do, when even mighty TrollsBane was, and still is, powerless against it.

When two Lords asked for an area to build a future town, we granted it to them in the hopes that we would be stronger together than separate. Thus the "County of Briar" was born. We had high hopes that we could find a way of government that everyone could abide by.

It was challenged when Occulte Nocturnalis was formed within our borders. Either test the dream, or face war, those were our choices. As it turned out, the form we had worked out with Caelum, also was agreeable to Nalzaxx. The dream had passed the test.

It continues to be challenged today. Leaders of the towns will come and go, sometimes peacefully, sometimes in strife, but the dream of a united county must survive. If we three cities cannot cooperate and come together, as small as we each are......what hope has Gobiath?

Shall we face endless wars and strife, or shall we continue with our grand experiment? The county isn't just some "tool" of the Temple, myself or anyone else. It is a dream, that someday we can all live in peace.

I won't be Mayor forever, nor would I wish to be. As my friend Henry is fond of saying, "Greenbriar is a small ship in a Hurricane, but her Captain has guided it well" If we can leave a legacy of peace, after all that fate has dealt us, I will die a happy man.

I ask that you all stand with Greenbriar. The 'storm' will pass.

~Dusty Bottoms, Mayor of Greenbriar~

I Richard Martins do not ever remember meeting you though you said you know me. Could you please tell me how we met? I would appreciate it because, I hate when I forget someone and usually ninety nine percent of the time I remember everyone I meet. Sincerest apologies for my lack of memory in this matter.

I'd like to welcome Arnold Winkelried as a new citizen. Arnold has visited often, speaks the old language and some new, and has decided to settle down here. Let's welcome him.

I also want to remind everyone that our first "Town Hall" meeting will take place at the 11th hour on the 18th of Chos ((Tomorrow at 2100 GMT)). We now seem to be the only democratic city in Gobiath. I plan to keep it that way. The town meeting is for you as citizens to express yourselves and recommend changes. Hope to see you all there.

I am sorry. The first posting of the meeting time states that it is ((19:00 GMT)), and I can be there at that time. There was no post that I saw stating a change in time, and if it is held at ((21:00 GMT)), I cannot be there. I look forward to our next meeting following if this one is held six hours after the time originally posted.

I would like to welcome Achea Eanstray as a new citizen. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders, and a willingness to learn that should take her far.

I would also like to welcome Quinnalin Puideraline as a new citizen. She enjoys the atmosphere of this town, and would like a place to call home. Please make her feel welcome.

Congratulations to our new citizens! May the sun shine upon them and guide their paths.

With great pleasure,

Another piece of parchment is pinned to the last.

Matholamew Dunsinane has decided to join his mate, Qunnalin as a citizen. He seems to have much that he could offer the town, and I want to welcome him.

Miru Yukimitsu has decided also to join the town. He is an honorable fellow that has a deep interest in blacksmithing. I would like to welcome him.

Congratulations again to the new citizens. I wish the best for them all. May the sun shine on them all brightly.

Dear Citizens,

Our first town hall meeting went very well, and is a shining example of democracy in action.

After Introductions, citizens offered ideas about changes and improvements to Greenbriar. Two changes to the "Lumberjacking" section of the law were proposed. Anfala suggested 2 trees replanted for each one that dies, and Pia suggested only harvesting conifers on the forest edge (See Laws). Both proposals were voted and adopted. Both Xonogor and Pia offered to replant trees for any who ask.

With the workshop near completion, and the next year about to begin, suggestions were taken concerning the next project for the town to work on. Some ideas were a University, a Hospital, Apartments to rent, Hobbit-homes, a pig-pen and sheep. Due to the expense of these many ideas, discussion ensued to prioritize them. The priorities were made and voted. The results are:
*The Town shall construct a small Clinic/Apothecary next to the cross on the North side of town. We shall ask the druids of the forest for assistance to build and maintain it. It shall be a place to help the sick and wounded. (On a side note: Perhaps Floro may condust business there instead of the fields as an Alchemist)
*At the same time, the town will construct an enclosure for Pigs and sheep. Farmland is great, but Livestock cannot continue to roam wild as they have been. As a community, we need to control our livestock better to make them thrive.
*Finally, it was decided Greenbriar is much too small currently for more homes to be built. With the citizenry expanding at a robust rate, Greenbriar must plan for expansion to accomodate all of its citizens. It was decided to expand the Borders of Greenbriar to the edge of the forest on the west, and north and south about 300 meters. The town will also construct a new North-South road on the other side of Briar Creek to make room for individual Hobbit Homes (Underground warrens) to be built near the forest hills. Individuals will construct and own them. Hobit-homes are 'hidden' and will be a way for Greenbriar to keep that 'Village' feeling while providing more homes. Details will be decided at our next meeting.

Once these projects are completed, then we will consider constructing apartments for citizens to rent, and a possible University.

The meeting then was postponed due to lack of time. We will continue discussions in three weeks.

I wish everyone to be safe during Mas. In case of emergencies, use of town hall is permitted, which can be locked to protect those inside. See myself or Alderman Rumil Togrin if this need arises.

Town Hall Meeting / Ratsversammlung

Post by Pia Dandelion »

Dear citizens of Greenbriar,

as there some among us who do not speak the new language, I will translate what Mayor Dusty Bottoms wrote about the first town hall meeting. Please correct me if I made a mistake in translation.

Best regards
Pia Dandelion

-

Gehabt euch wohl

Dear Mayor Dusty Bottoms,

I wasn't able to find my name on the list of citizens although you granted me that privilege yourself days ago. I would be glad to read my name on the list.

To the deputies of Greenbriar,

Let it be known; whatever decision Mayor Bottoms comes to concerning the Temple and the land in question, you are all expected to uphold and enforce it, regardless of personal views on the matter. You are paid to support the government of the hamlet of Greenbriar; if you find yourself unable to do so, for any reason, please, inform the mayor, any of the aldermen, or myself.

Chancellor Thurbert was here yesterday, and we discussed a trade agreement between Silverbrand and Greenbriar. Here are the terms after some negotiation.

Irmoroms Blessings!

As you wished, I will send you a list of the things we need and rough prices we are willing to pay for them.

All purchases will however be payed with either

Coal (worth 4 copper pieces)
Iron (worth 5 copper pieces)
Nails (worth 15 copper pieces)
Copper (worth 5 copper pieces)

If we get big quantities of our requested items (250+) we might lower these prices so you will gain more out of our trade.
Apples - 1 Copperpiece
Cherries - 1 Copperpiece
Salmon - 2 Copperpieces
Thread - 4 Copperpieces
Meat (pig, rabbit or deer origin) - 3 Copperpieces
Wooden Logs (regardless of type) - 3 Copperpieces
Wooden Boards (regardless of type) - 4 Copperpieces

(Final Price adjusted after Negotiations)
Grain - 2 Copperpiece
Onions - 3 Copperpiece
Tomatoes - 3 Copperpiece
Carrots - 3 Copperpiece
Champignons (soup mushrooms) - 2 Copperpiece
If there are still questions, feel free to ask.

Thurbert
Chancellor of Silverbrand

I discussed this with Caelum, and they are providing Thread, apples, cherries and salmon for Ores for Caelum. I then put in an order with Silverbrand for coal, copper and Iron, and they responded with:

Irmoroms Blessings!

750 coal ( 4 x 750 = 3000 cc )
500 iron ( 5 x 500 = 2500 cc )
250 copper ( 5 x 250 = 1250 cc)

Total worth: 6750 copper coins

…..We will demand - according to the list you agreed upon currently - in return for our ore:

500 conifer boards ( 4 x 500 = 2000 cc )
500 dedious boards ( 4 x 500 = 2000 cc )
250 grain ( 2 x 250 = 500 cc )
250 onions ( 3 x 250 = 750 cc )
500 tomatoes ( 3 x 500 = 1500 cc )

Total worth: 6750 copper coins

After you agreed upon this order by sending me a confirmation we will start collecting it immediately.

Thurbert
Chancellor of Silverbrand

I sent a confirmation and was requested by the Chancellor to also provide thread, salmon and fruits in the future in addition to Caelum’s supplies. They claim to need all both our towns can provide.

I have already collected the Boards and the Grain, however we need the help of local farmers to grow the onions and tomatoes necessary.

The ores ordered will go into the “Treasury” of Greenbriar, to be purchased or traded by any of our citizens for their use in our new smithy. Aldermen Rumil, Foraker and myself will equally hold onto these resources. Anyone donating Tomatoes, Onions, Grain or Boards can also expect their fair share of these ores.

This will not be the only order we make, and there will be plenty of opportunity for our farmers and woodsmen. This is exactly the kind of economic growth our new workshop was intended for. May we continue to progress in hope and prosperity!
