Ranger Guild
Moderator: Gamemasters
I have been working for the past couple days on a new website for the Rangers, and it is finally complete. The new site uses frames, and currently there is no alternative with no frames, so make sure that you can support frames. It is best viewed in 1024x768 mode, but if you use a different resolution it won't affect it much (the picture will be a bit off center).
So without further adue, the site!
Important note:
If your name on the members page has any "???"'s on it, please post the required information here or send it to me at astral1@shaw.ca.

If you mean no longer having it necessary to either cast spells or make potions, I don't think that is really fair, since not everyone is a mage or druid. We don't want to be going around forcing people to take up one of those occupations just to pass a test. Someone who is strictly a warrior would not even be able to pass the first test the way it was, but they would be able to pass the last test. So I left the spellcasting and potion making to the Master Mage and Druid.
I think that was an unofficial rule before, and now it is an official rule. We want to use the tests to get an idea of our member's fighting skills, not their magic or archery (until the Master Mage and Archer). To be a Ranger, you at least need some fighting skills, and I don't think being able to kill ogres is asking for too much.

I think that the test were made perfect for non-warriors. Passing two of the four master tests is not that hard. Almost everyone should be able to pass the master Ranger test, then all that is needed is to be a good archer, warrior, or mage/druid. If some one is not good enough to pass two of these tests then it is easy enough to train in one perfession. If some one can't even do that what makes you think they have the right to take the test to be an Elite Ranger

Also, if anyone hasn't seen it yet, there is a new topic where all members must report in and provide information about themselves. Please post your messages regarding that subject there. (it is located here)

Nobody has no occupations. Even if all your stuff was taken and you have no skills at this time, there must be something that you are working at, you can't just be planning your character to be a bum for the rest of his existence. If you are working at blacksmithing, then you are a blacksmith. You don't have to be good at a skill for it to be your occupation.
hmmmm.... but I do not have the tools to be anything right now.. not even one measly hammer or shovel because that thief keeps on taking them.... But I get your point, my occupation shall be "Good Friend" and "Wandering Ranger".

I wish to join.
I am Lief Deltora
I am a mage Elf and I wish to join the Rangers
I help when I am needed and chose peace over war unless totaly nesicary.
I will help the Rangers to uphold peace and greatly dislike people who cast in town to prevent access/exit of buildings and block deposit boxes.

I respectfully request that you change my occupation from <<(no useful skills)>> to <<Wandering Ranger and retired merchant>>. Also, why was the Ranger Code changed?
p.s. in case you didn't know << >> is the same as " " .

A halfling with a sadly looking face is walking through town, searching another time for her love. One last hope shows on her face as she sees the guild board of her beloved fiance Timothius. With a clumsy hand she writes down a note to the leaders of the Rangers:
Kuckuck!
I don´t know if your brave member Timothius ever told about me, but I know that he seems to be lost for about some months. You must know that we are engaged to be be married and the last time I heard something of him was in a post on another part of this board were he asked me do go to dance with him.
Now I´m concerned about his health. Did you send him on a secret mission and he is not allowed to reply to my messages?
If not so, I beg you to start a search for him! Find him and bring him back to me! Find him!
I am willing to pay all my silver to supply a searching expedition.
With kindest regards,
Kuckuck!

I can assure you that we haven't told Timothius anything of the sort. I suppose that means he is missing, we shall do our best to locate him. Also, should the Master Ranger test occur south of town? I think it would be better to give experience in the town, seeing as few criminals will actually leave the town for long.
@Korwin:
Since the Expert Ranger test is to find a person in town, I think that the Master Ranger test should be a bit harder (the area south of town is a bit larger than just in town). Then after this test they advance to finding someone anywhere on the map. You can include inside the town when you give that test.
@Roke:
Does the fact that we do not post every single discussion we have amongst ourselves mean that we don't talk? I suppose that in your mind it might, or are you just angry that you are no longer in the High Council? Don't worry, we'll be doing some talking pretty soon, and you can guess what it will be about.
About the Code, let's review the changes:
-Rangers will follow the rules of Illarion changed to [Will Not] Act badly (rudeness, casting in town, etc.)
-Rangers will not fight with other Rangers changed to [Will Not] Kill without reason (Or maybe you perferred to be able to kill non-Rangers?)
-Rangers will not use the guild to threaten others didn't change
Most of the changes are wording changes, the meaning remains the same. But I guess if you are paranoid then changing wording is the same as taking over the world. Or maybe everyone would like the same boring wording for the the rest of the Ranger's existence?
"setting all sorts of poilicy" - I counted only four, how many did you count? (Or did you not mean policies?)
By the way, you don't have a very developed way of asking for things. Would you go out of your way to do something for someone if they asked you like this: Hey, can I borrow some money? Oh, and you're a complete moron?
