OMFG i am not whining!!, none of my characters have ever fought a mage to kill him/her, i wanted the game more balanced, Nitram fixed the bug, thats it.Jeremy Gems Willowbrook wrote:And I am sure you will whine again when mages improve their skills and start kicking you ass again..Arameh_ wrote:Well, im sure mages will say its underpowered or something![]()
Problem now seems to be (for me at least) that I hit the skill cap after casting maybe 10 spells.
hmm pretty sure I put a wink in there somewhere to show it was a joke.....Arameh_ wrote:OMFG i am not whining!!
yup..there it is....Jeremy Gems Willowbrook wrote:![]()
*Raises his hand?*Jeremy Gems Willowbrook wrote: Something to think about.......How many fighters go to fight ogres every day? How many of those RP the fights? Do they use #me's when slaughtering them?
Right, but i never complained because they were casting in town, just tell that to the right personQuinasa wrote:I can't be bothered to read the whole last three pages that appeared while I sleptbut I'm going to comment on what I did read. There shouldn't be a problem with mages or specialty magic users walking around casting as they walk or sit at a table as long as they're casting non-offensive or harmless spells. They have to practice just like fighters do, so no one should be whining. There is ALWAYS a practice brawl going on outside the town walls in one direction or the other. ALWAYS. So if there are 5 or six mages walking around casting summon food or teleport spells on themselves then that shouldn't be a problem. As was said, mages have a lot of ambition and motivation to go after something so impressive as learning magic, and so by casting their harmless spells that seem to you randomly coming out of nowhere they are proving that they are still ambitious and motivated by not just learning the skill but practicing it in a way that is not so random to them. It is only slightly different that someone is walking around casting summon food rather than two or three guys wanting to practice their swordsmanship skills and fighting over who gets to battle first. The ONLY time you should complain is if they're walking around casting ice flames or lightening bolts randomly, because that's disruptive (and in some cases its not bad roleplay at all).
@Arameh - a year ago every other character had runes and was casting their healing spell on everyone in sight whether they were injured or not just to practice and get their skills up. It isn't like that anymore so you should be thankful. I think they're all doing a great job teaching and being taught at the same time, they show wonderful motivation by doing exactly what you complain about. They don't always need to #me if they aren't interacting with someone (like if they're sitting at a table not facing anyone and they summon a carrot no one could see it anyway), but there are people who #me that they make a carrot or a mushroom or teleport themselves.
Out of Character? Have you ever met Misjilah? She is the lazy woman herself, and very keen on displaying her power at every chance she has.I personally think that casting can ofter be overused, I understand completely the sentiments and arguments of those mages who need to practice, it is afterall me who they will be teaching next (fingers crossed) however some use does seem a little excessive. For example Misjilah teleporting through town did seem a little out of place, and out of character. Such shows of teleportation should be used for special circumstances, and not over-used as such.
It does actually. I have been roleplaying Misjilah as physically tired, and even with slight breakdowns. And I have been trying to explain that teleporting instead of walking is more physically and mentally tiring than actually walking, and still they make comments about me getting fat and ugly.Nalzaxx wrote:Still, repeatedly casting teleport and jumping from one spot to the other seems a little odd, and in any case, surely takes more effort than walking a few feet.
I am not going to change my RP because you think that we should keep it outside of town. Harmless spells are actually allowed by town law, and following Misjilah's thoughts, she will do it in that damn town if it doesn't break any rule.I myself could not give a damn (even though my character, hates the use of magic). A simple solution, if mages need to do magic, do it outside of town like the other powe... 'fighters'. This would solve all conflict and you can play magicians all you want.
Then expect more complaints, i wasn't ordering you to, i was suggesting it to stop the conflict between players, i'm sorry that wasn't apparent to you.Misjbar wrote:Another thing I wish to comment upon:
