you act like your completely helpless now. theres nothing you can do. the bad guys win.
What can anyone do if Orcs are running around PK'ing and every time they are put in jail, they contact each other ((ooc more than likely as I don;t really see it happening any other way)) and release themselves.

Once released they continue to do as they wish. They have figured out an in game loophole by exploiting an out og game oversight.
if you are going to imprison a part of a mob, your asking for trouble.
Maybe you should count yourselves lucky that the GM's won't allow hangings, beheadings, burning at the stake, and the rack. If I ran the guard and I caught one of those Orcs, they would be drawn and quatered and be permanantly dead. Be thankful the GM's won't allow that.
taking down organised crime wasn't meant to be easy.
True, but it is not also suppose to be impossible either. Your constant escape from jails makes catching you pointless. Why should anyone catch you? Why should anyone even pay attention to you? If you kill continue to kill people, why should people even log in?
could we make it so when the server crashes, it's rped as a storm or something? that would be kinda cool, and make logical sense for doors opening.
I agree.
I think the orcs are doing a good job rping in this war thing
I haven;t seen any decent RP. But that is just me.

stop mixing me with them, I play no orc, no char of mine is on their side.

I'm just glad that the bad guys stand a chance. before you were complaining that it was too peacful, now this!

Ive heard of bad rping from the orcs, and I know they do it sometimes, report them or something.

you guys can stop them, it's not impossible. tons of ways. plenty of ways. loads of ways! seems to me your not thinking, and yet it's so obviose (sp?)

pking is the main thing I hate about them, even criminals kill for a reason! mainly for self defense. they wouldn't kill a single person if they didn't have to. except for murders, which kill people in power, like assasinations. right now your all like insane killing crazy people.

I apologize for posting so much.

If it sounds that way, I apologize. I have no clue who exactly this concerns. I know no names.

It has always been too peaceful due to the fact that 89.546% of players are playing the Knight who took the oath to smash everything remotely bad in the face with his sword.

I want the bad guys to stand a chance. I do, I really do. I mean, hell.....I played Ark....and you can find countless threads of me bitching about how bad guys are always screwed. Trust me, I want the bad guys to have a chance, but I want that chance to come without cheap tactics and server tricks. If a group of 30 characters gathered together and decided they would all make uber warriors and take Trollsbane and hold it indefinately, they easily could due to sheer numbers. Alll they would ahve to do is stand in a mob and attack anything that comes in sight. Would the other players be able to mount a counter attack? Probably not as the 30 players would lag the server as it is.....they would all be powergammed beyond all belief and far too powerful and they would all log in at the same time so their group is always at full strength. As much as I would applaud their ability to organize themselves and make all the timing perfect for such an event....I would disagree completely with their tactics.

Hell, ahve the Orcs walk out to Vanima. They can claim it without one fight as I am sure no Elf is there when they will arrive. Now they can say they own it. Does this make it right?

Hmmm...let us think
1) Prison - Does not work. They keep getting out the same day.
2)Talking to them - Does not work. They kill you before you say anything.
3) Killing them. Does not work. They come back from the cross and continue.
4)Asking GM's to fix the jail escape problem. May work but could take some time.
5) Give the handful of Orcs the entire town and stop playing Illarion all together. hmmmmm............

no problem, just alerting you.

entire paragraph is true.

theres your list of options. now find out how to fix them!
1what stephen said
2seriously doubt that, if so, it should be reported. thats' like killing on sight
3 drops there skills until they're too weak to fight, and should be reported if they get up from the cross, drink a couple of potions and go on
4 theres no problem
5 don't even try to leave illarion. we've all tried, it's impossible.

This goes way back to the old trick the mages used to use

Paralyze, ice flame, paralyze, paralyze, paralyze, laugh at dead person who is still stuck in ice flame.

Just because you can technically do it in the game, doesn;t make it right to do so.

i would not be bothered if the players of the orcs mounted their "escapes" when other people were online. as it is they do this when no guard is online, and the guard basically lives at the prison house when people are in the jail. it is the same for when they attack. there is maybe two warriors of the town online, then they attack with their full numbers and the warriors cannot hope to win. the battle on monday would have been a defeat if not for Samantha meryadeles knowing magic. And it is not because the town's forces are weak but because Halik and Darius had logged off, Revlen was not online as well the various squires and knights in the Knighthood.

I read alot of posts here and see many things you say which are silly. It seems most people do not know what goes on with the Orcs minds.

1. We do not mix ooc with ic, when one of us gets jailed its pretty damn obvious where the jail is, no ooc involved.

2. I dont believe anyone one of us has been jailed except Retlak, and the first 2 times in his past was a GM, no asking involved, so i could not help the break out.

3. When we attack the town, we do not attack the town! we always attack one person - Stephen Rothman and his guards, and anyone who gets in the way attacking us. (and by the way, we usualy do this when the sides are equal, not when Stephen is around alone).

4. We do not PK, we rough Stephen and his guards up, if they fall back and bleed we would most likely shout at them for putting Orc down and run, not kill (unless he continues to attack).

5. If someone comes to talk to the Orcs we do not kill you before you say anything, we will listen and shout a few things, if people continue to insult or challenge then yes they would be killed! (Think of this in real terms, without hiding behind a computer screen. If you were in the street and stood up to 3 chavs, well i doubt you would, this is the point).

It is a shame to see the complaints about the orcs at this time.

The characters of the game in general complain that there are no characters to oppose them, and when these characters appear they complain that those who oppose them dont to it in a '' nice '' manner which suits them.

I hear complaints that the orcs attack those who cant defend themselves, im sure i would attack those who could not defend themselves as well. But they must also attack those who can defend themselves, do you know why i know this. There is a thread about the orcs dieing and returning. If this is the case this means the orcs have died.
And why did they die, they attacked those stronger than they are.

I hear complaints about orcs running away. Please dont make my laugh. The PO Arameh has run away in the past when he was beaten, i heard no complaints at that time. If you are loseing a fight of course you will attempt to flee if you dont wish to die..

Retlak escaped from Jail. Yes i can understand the upset here. But in return you have to ask these questions.. You say what is the point in the Jail, i say what do the orcs have for themselves which matches the jail. Nothing...

So do not complain how they use the jail, as they have no reason to respect it, to respect something needs mutual respect and how can you gain mutual respect if there is nothing to respect upon the oppersite side. I know this may not make sense, but it does in a twisted manner.

So can we please have less complaining about the orcs..

Wrong. The orcs have a jail in the orc cave. but that is closed because the orcs weren't able to exist as a group and got in troubles with each other. Now Gabon is the owner of the cave but works in Varshikar, and the cave self stands empty.

When we beat up the town (when you are not there Sam  ) we do not hold everyone captive, or even take over the town. if we had access to a jail, we would not jail people, because this would get rid of the good roleplay fun the other side can do. When you jail us, you are getting rid of one of the things that makes the game not so boring.

Yeah, i must say most of the time the "good guys" are the cruelest one, some kills everyone they see as bandit the moment they get an occasion, and thats annoying for the "bad guys".

@ Topic: I prefer a time-limited running mode, see my suggestions in other topics.

Orcs:
I dont play very long, but I encounter only one time when some orces really seem to attack and kill with no reason.

Jail:
It is a problem when imprisoning doesnt really mean anything, because you are free in some way some RL hours later...

Who has been complaining about having no characters to oppose them? And sure I would prefer it done in a "nice"(?) manner, rather than killing random players (excellent way to get people in the game I must say), and having people get harassed everyday. If I wanted to sit around and see the above, I could go to a different game with better features, graphics, and community to do that.

One person actually did die, had about 2-3 people grab them, and then they just left.

Who gives a shit if they have a jail or not? Where exactly are they causing problems? Oh, foriegn/enemy territory. You want an orc prison right outside the walls? Or better yet, right in the middle of town? What is the point of the jail? No clue at this point.

Many people complain Fooser, if you prefer the non agresive side of the game im sure you can find it without much trouble. And im sure the orcs dont attack any random passer by for no reason

If the orcs had something they could use, perhaps tey would have something to do rather than use '' your '' jail :P

I think that is a little unfair on the theives. So instead of running from certain death they should stop and be clouded by powergamers? Get real, this is just a bullshit thread started by powergamers that can't get their own way. If you have a crappy proposal only thought of, out of anger of frustration, post it in your fucking recycle bin, not on the boards and spare us the drama.

I say you calm down, Caeldrian, as I have seen you angry on other threads too. It's their opinion, and if a GM can lock it if they wish. It doesn't mean you can rant on and on about how they are all powergamers.

Lol i'm not as angry as i sound. I am just getting a headache seeing all these basically 'rant' threads, where something has happened that has put them at a disadvantage so they suggest new and complicated proposals which will never happen. It wastes everyones time.

boloney :P

due ot my slow computer, I'm slower than everyone, you almost had me a couple of times. you just typed and sai #me grabs him when I was 5 tiles away. by pure luck I was able to lose you by going through alleys and making alot of turns. and If I remember correctly, you caught me in a horrible way, you and another guy are sitting at oppsite ends of a bar, I pickpocket one, and you turn and say "stop thief!"

then you smell through my mask and find out who I am

don't be saying I was the bad rper there. the odds were completly against me.

We need to just not ctrl click while both people are running, that is completely unrealistic. Evan more so when you get a critical like that.

I beg of all of you to not call anyone a powergamer. The people involved in these battles(with a decent fighting skill) in town are for the most part:

Stephen
Aramh
Revlen
Retlak
Gort
Gorge
There have been a few more in some of the battles we've had.

To call any of these people "Power Gamers" is absurd. Each of these players have been playing what a year? More for some. Maybe less for a few.... But reguardless all of these people could easaly have gained this skill with out powergaming. Maybe capping 3 times a 7 day week for 6 months would let you challange almost anyone and do a decent job. In game thats a lot longer. :)

Now some one please consider not running while swinnging a sword at you opponent. Or if you do.....Maybe if you get a hit stop then run again. I mean for the most part ctrl clicking some one only achives them loosing a bag and pants. But if you must "Kill" them then don't pretend it's good Rp to swing at full force while running and being able to keep up parry and get a crit all at once.

(By the way I know I'm guily of doing this and I have realized it, as a result I haven't killed another char in maybe 2 weeks by ctrl clicking..well exept in a duel with a crit.)

Well yes, Arameh dosent even cap at all now in fights, i just fight for fun and RP, as all the players on the list. Caeldrian, i would ask you to keep your comments for things you know something of, just go on the "Im the best suggestion whiner guy" thread deep in the off topic. That suggestion woulnt give me ANY advantages, Arameh wears heavy armors, and thus would be slow with what i proposed, but in my eyes, the game needs a chasing system, more than ANYTHING else, personally. Let me propose some sort of formula:

Agility + food bar + healt - (cloches weight/strenght) = Running speed

Constitution + food bar - (carrying weight/strenght) = Endurance (time to get exausted)

This is just a basic formula that could be modified, but i think this would add much more realism and fun to the game.

I still think we wouldent need a running system if you didn't run ctrl attack.

But a do want to hear a decent explinatoin for why his idea cannot be impleminted. I know almost nothing about scripting a game such as Illarion but maybe give a non-idiotic reason why.

From what i know it wouldnt be too hard to change to that if its set so agaility at least defines your speed (at least a bit), as it'd just mean adding some more variables to the mix. I havent actually seen the script though, so....

As for endurance, that might be a bit harder to add in.
