I have been having a problem myself. (I am currently using a Windows 98 SE machine with 384 mb of ram, a 500 mhz processor, and an off brand, shitty video card that normally runs Illarion quite well. I have a better machine but it needs some repairs right now :( ) When I try to log in to the new client with one of my characters after I enter the password and name it says "Unable to find requested screen display mode”. I did install the Java Runtime Environment. I hope it can be fixed.

That sounds like your card does not support openGL or does not support it at the required resolution. Only thing to try is setting the client to 16bit color mode.

A good place to find out about supported graphics cards and drivers is here:

Due to server problems, there is a small time where the client does not know what your char looks like. The default image is the lizard as the least common race to detect problems. Can be fixed in the future with some server changes.

I have downloaded the client.

I have a very nice computer with a nice new video card.

My drivers are up to date.

Everytime I click play I get the simple message of
Unable to launch Illarion Client.
I have fiddled with every setting and nothing produces anything new.

Do you have a link to where I can download this? Googled it, but I'm still a little bit confused.

Look in the download section on the Illarion.org homepage.
We already kindly provided a link for someone who does not have a Java Runtime on his computer and lacks the skill to type "Java" in Google. ;)
