New Client Technical Thread

Post by Cain Freemont »

Okay, so.. here's my problem:

I clicked "play" in the download page. It loaded the client, then did some downloading. After that, it brought me to the log-in screen (the new one, duh). I tried to log in.. and.. nothing. It said, "Error: Old Client Version."

...help?

Some graphics are missing, namely the tiles that used to go at the doors of Greenbriar houses.

When i go to install it on my pc (Geforce 6600gt, 2.8 ghx p4 processor, 768 mb of memory, in case you need stats), it gets to the point of the java webstart then freezes my pc with a blue screen of death, blaming it on the display drriver, saying it was in infinite loop.

This old client version thing happens if your computer is too slow.
Try turning off all programs that slow down your computer and try again.

It wasn't my computer being too slow. Trust me. I figured out the problem there. Now I am getting black-screen ingame.

Go to options. Change gfx to reduced and that thing to 16. Change frame rate too. Click save and play

Saving doesn't save... I changed everything, clicked save, then checked it again and it went back to high and 32.

Internetconnection = DSL, AMD 1 Ghz Prozessor und TNT 2 Model 64 Pro = 32 mb. All other Progs were closed. Windows reduced to 16 bit and 1024 x 768. Java 5 Update 6 done. I runned the Client and changed the Optionens to 16 bit and reduced the Graphics. Framerate I did´t changed cause I have no Plan of such things. I saved without closing the Option Window and started. I saw the new Client but the Game Window was black. After some Time the Client closed with an Error Message. I should reduce the Graphic and change the Framerate. The Illa Error file said: Graphic not found!:

Now I downloaded and installed the Client again. I removed the Illa Chars in the Install Directory. I tried again and again, used Belgrams Settings. Now I had the Gamescreen, but the Game is still slow. My Char is walking like he jumps in the old Client. After some Minutes the Client closes with the same Error Message to reduce the Graphics and Framerate. Any Ideas what else I can try?

Read the manual. It is about your scrollwheel.

Everything is slower. Cursor/keyboard speed and animation speed alike.

*bursts into tears* No, not Jeremy!!!!! :(:(:(:(

*bursts into tears agains as she remembers to the reason she came to the thread*

It won't let me play... anymore! Earlier I went in game with 3 different characters. One of them I had been in with at least twice.

After closing the game for a while, I tried to get back in, abut now I only get that message saying: Error - Old Client Version.
And no, there is nothing running that could possibly be slowing down my computer.

Settings won't save for me either. Hopefully Jeremy, until technical support get the majority of people with problems working (which from the looks, could take a while).

I get the old client version message as well except I was not able to log in even once. I can't handle this technical stuff. I don't know what is going on.

Try my settings because they do save. You can change them about, it's really just the fade speed which has to be 111.

Log in again. This happens, don't know why

Yes I did. Tried a few times with different settings. Even with frame rate set at 10...lowest it would accept....it runs too slow. I was able to log IG but it took 5 minutes just to load the whole screen. It works..but just far too slow to even think of playing.
Might just be my graphics card....ATI Rage Pro 3d....not sure how much onboard memory it has. I downloaded the latest drivers for it and it will run DX9...not sure if that helps... :?
Other than that it might be the stone age PII - 400 Mhz......or possibly both. Dont know.
Cant afford a new PC just yet...if ever!....so might try new a graphics card. Any suggestions?
Still...it does look nice.

@ Avareniah....I will still definitely be around as long as the old client works.
With a wife, 3 kids, house and car to support my happiness/entertainment is a very low priority... :(
But if anyone has an old PC they are dumping...all donations would be gratefully received! I might even be able to come and collect....if its not too far...
