Taking advantage of a bug.
There seems to be a common bug (which everyone seems to notice) where orcs have the 'ability' to speak elven.
However it makes little rp sense that something as unintelligent as an orc, could learn such a complicated language.
If you agree with me, then please tell me why several orcs walk around freely speaking in the elven tongue. And why, when i calmy tell them that it isn't great rp to speaking it, do we suddenly embark on a mass of ooc talk?

I want to speak dwarvish with my other char aswell because his grandfather motherwise was uh... very short!
I don't think any of those orcs came up with a good RP explanation why they're talking elvish (if there even is a good one)
so this should be fixed, furthermore players should be fair enough not to ab-use this to their advantage.
(Common sence, they can't speak proper common but one of the highly developed languages... oic

Last I remember 90% of Orcs were not that bright. I also remember the Elvish language being somewhat difficult to master.
But hell, these are the same orcs who have gone over to the Elf island, stood in the building and waited for people to log in and attack/rob them saying it was "Orc Territory".
[sarcasm]
I just love it when two individuals take out a whole city. It rules. This game rocks! Woot!

Um... Usually when you're looting someone's village... you prooobably don't give any shit for what they're trying to say to you.
There's also the fact that you're looting their village, therefore.... they have probably fled, have been captured, or have been killed. You can't hear people who are leagues and leagues away (Alexander Graham Bell doesn't exist in this realm), you're probably telling all of your captives to shut the hell up, and dead people just don't talk that much.
And no offense to anyone who might have come up with this RP, but it's also extremely illogical to be fluent in elven, yet only be able to grunt an occasional word in the common tongue. After all, the common tongue IS the COMMON TONGUE.
Prooooobably means it's common because more people can get a grasp of it more easily. And can you ever imagine the elves ever having anything that easily mastered in the elven way, much less their own language??

1) This is the technical board. please dont spamDelakaniam wrote:Um... Usually when you're looting someone's village... you prooobably don't give any shit for what they're trying to say to you.
2) Elves usually have writings, and sacred writings and they were one of the first races to discover writing... if you loot it, and do your best... you may try to read it..
also "Help Orc" is something y'll learn quickly enough

May I remind you that that was not spam, yet a very viable remark, and argument against that specific RP reason.Hadrian_Abela wrote:1) This is the technical board. please dont spamDelakaniam wrote:Um... It is right here.. www.illarion.org/storys/lies/zieloden
Incase that is a broken link, let me tell you it:
Once upon a time there was a orc named Misjbar... he became an elf.. and when he became an orc agian the gods got P/Oed and made all orcs but Misjibar know elven. The End.

Odd story, considering the elf is first named Misjbar, and then Misjibar (SERIOUSLY, SPELL IT RIGHT (!!) FOR ONCE). Orcs most definately should not be able to learn elvish, and yes it is a complex and flowery language, and mostly used to say long, complex annoyingly stretched out scentences, with which orcs have problems. And yes I do suggest you read moonsilver every once in a while.

Lets wait for some word from the staff before we guess...
How ever I have noticed my mage has a language US, I cant imagine what that could be. How ever it would certainly strike me as odd some orcs can speak elf. Also it does not appear all orcs can or else some RP very well ignoreing an elf on mine insulting them
