Cross

Post by Turonga Mudwater »

Alright In my opinion this is a small propsal (buyt Im not a GM, t could be huge) but I propose that the cross near Northrot and the ogre spawn be moved further from the ogre spawn, maybe even closer to the center of town. Or I propse that there be some sort of invisible ring around the cross that goes 1-2 squares out, in this ring ogres (and other creatures) cannot pass.

My reasoning for this is that I (along with others I know of) have recently been res-killed at the cross, for me during the blacktime while the game was loading.

Thank you for considering

I think the cross is fine where it is. The only reason trolls get there is because a character was either luring them, or fleeing. I rarely see them just wander too close to the cross for characters to escape after being KO'ed.

Sounds to me like some player hasn't been respecting the no-death wishes of the other players.

I dunno its not That big of a deal, just an annoyance really. I Dont mind dieing (if you've met my charecter you'ld know that) I just find it kind of annoying. Also this would reduce powergaming in that area.

I can understand how it might be an annoyance, but if that's the case, it's best to keep away from them altogether.

How would this reduce powergaming?

Im mean only slightly but people allways know they can "train" on the ogres because theres a Cross nearby, they never do this on the trolls for some odd reason? If the cross were further from the ogres it would slightly reduce powegaming which seems to be an extreme problem in this game judging from the boards

erm...Just because a cross is nearby doesnt make powergaming more.

Usually, when people powergame, You tend to not want to die... so if you might die from ogres, you'd probably just go and stick with the mummies.

I see no problem with the cross being right there.

I agree that the cross would be better placed further from the ogre's. If someone gets killed by and ogre over there, and they run to the cross, they have to run away right away at risk of being killed a second time right away.

Wow, who knew kasume would have something to say on this topic
If going to the town cross is the solution, then the northern cross is unneccesarry, no?

I always went to the one in town.
Now if your real reasoning for going to the cross in Northerot lands (which you would be killed anyways by orcs if found) is that you want to put the cross to good use, then I don't believe you.

A better idea; just remove the cross from the northern lands. What the heck is a holy object doing on ground where an grizzly dead man rests under his ruined kingdom?

THat would be fine except for the fact that everyone is dependant on the town, using the own in town would require people who are banned from town to use it, and then, someone kills them for going into town (I guess thats what happens from reading the boards) It would also cause Northrot citizens to go to town when they really should not have to, And thanks to the grey rose castle blocking all traffic you cannot go straight from Northrot to the cross in the woods.

My point is that people who try to play persons independant from the town often are forced to be depedant on the town because it has everything, removing the northrot cross would only make people more dependant on the town.

Well, I say, the GMs, without any IG input, should leave it where it is.

However, I don't think it's not possible for a group of players to undertake some InGame action and communications with other players and some GMs to make an InGame-event of moving the cross. Ever thought of that?

Just an idea, since we're in the Proposals section here.

Moving the cross could be part of the rebuilding up north.
