I like all of martins gfx. The New Double axe is slick. I think asking for custom is like spitting in martin's face. In Rackere's Case it isn't but in others it is.

I am paying respect, in an unnoticeable way at the moment... however it will be quite noticeable soon.

Thanks.

Martin, I think you understood me wrong. I like your new graphics very much, have a very big respect for your work and would never be able to do such a good work.

But I have the problems with my eyes. I'm hardly able to see much if the chars are on the green groud.

By the way, I like the new colors for the different grounds. I can distinguish all of them now, thank you...

I think it would be a bit of work for you, Martin..but still a very nice gesture to make him special graphics if it is difficult for him to see.

I'm sure there is a way for you to transfer your old person.tbl to the new Illarion client folder.

That weren't the problem, but the graphics are in the illarion.exe.

I know how to replace them, but I haven't my old client. I deleted it.

Uhm... I can't host the file anywhere.

Although, if I can figure something out, I'll be glad to send it to you.

@Rackere: I understood you very well.

@the others:

These are not just my graphics; a lot of them came from Yoruhm and Fedaykin. You can critizise them at any time, thats not the problem (in contrary, a lot of the graphics are not perfect and I want to improve the game).

However, I can not react on some critical comments because I do not see the point.

I never played with the old client, but judging from the screenshots from the last versions, I really like the new client's gfx alot in that comparison.

As a newb who recently hopped on board of the illarion-train, and have some gfx design experience, I was wondering: was it ever discussed to use direct-to-pixel sprites, rather than 3D-rendered models? I have some experience with sprites and pixel graphics, and I personally prefer graphics from that tier that were created from scratch. I offer my "skills" for free if this idea was not entirely discarded, because I believe standard sprites give things a more personal feeling. The big downside though, would be that everybody would have to create sprites and pixel-graphics, rather than using 3D-renders as a base - and that would probably cripple the speed in creating them.

I like the models the way they are. Normally, with most other graphical RPGs, the gfx are too "kiddish" for my taste (Ever seen Nexus' sprites and overall gfx? Omfg.). But: the illarion gfx sometimes look overtly neutral and impersonal to me, perhaps because they were 3D-rendered originally - while at the same time, I'd actually prefer that one quality: "neutral".

Because, if on the other hand, the style would stay the same, and graphics were all typical sprites, illarion would be endangered to look too reminiscent of Ultima Online to me.

Anyway, my offer's still up for gfx creation, I have some time and mind I could seriously put into it.

Actually, we are using pixel-sprites, but a lot of them are pre-rendered with some 3d-software for several reasons.

Your help is welcomed of course! You can write me an e-mail to martin@illarion.org
You could even write in german if you like to.

I'd really like to hear which graphics you mean concrete.
We're always trying to improve everything. Write me an e-mail and we discuss it.

Yes. The Exe can be changed. Although no graphics i have discovered yet need that much attention. And changing graphics to cheat is completely wrong. I'm still willing to offer my help creating official graphics martin. I hope I've proved some worth with previous graphics i've worked on.

Out of the blue I would say: Animals !

We need much more peaceful animals, from chicken to rabbits, over deers and boars to barking dogs and these sweet kitties.

On a second thought I would say: Plants !

Flowers, high grass, more trees, even more colorful flowers, dungle liana's, fruits , ect.

Go make 'em Armil :)

Though, I think that one tree is too big... but hey, it'd be cool to have a REally big treee

I made a few more plant graphics. With some heavy black removal they could be illa material. Although now that most of the new graphics have black edging (great editing guys) they should fit right in.

The flowers are not bad (however I believe at least some of them to be photographs...), but too large.

Yes, there are black borders around some images. If you have a look at professional games, you will notice this as well.

In some cases this is to be able to see them better.

Dang. how did you make a tree so fast?!

With Maya, do you not have to do each individual leaf?

I'll take that as a compliment, as none of them are. You want a to see screens of the meshes for proof? I can resize them easily, but I can't see them in game which makes editing size and color to make them look good almost impossible.
