If there is a strong mage and there is a weak warrior, are they supposed to both have equal opportunity to win a fight? I agree, most warriors cannot take on a very experienced mage. But is that a game problem? In the game, most warriors cannot beat the master warriors. I expect you know this. Now just substitute a master mage with the master warrior. Are they really so different? A master warrior has a good chance of beating a master mage. A weak fighter has a good chance of beating a weak mage. It isn't the magic system's fault that someone gives the best spell books and the best armor to newbie mages. When this happens, it is unfair, but you can't blame the magic system.
If you can't beat powergamed mages, then don't take it into your own hands. Leave them be, and if they do alot of powergaming, report them to Bror and they will likely be deleted. And you also must realize that there are powergamed warriors (there used to be alot more) that the mages could not beat. So the powergamed argument works both ways. If a powergamed person kills you, you can be content that you have played the game properly, and that they are the real losers for cheating.

I doubt that you couldn't hit a decent parried mage, unless I have totally overestimated the dexterity and strength of a lizard. It really isn't that hard to penetrate armour, you just have to know what weapons to use.
Mages
You seem to be underestimating how over powered two shields can be, it can be almost impossible to hit someone if they are wearing full armor and two shields.
Lizards can get 19 strength and dexterity, perhaps halflings can hit through two shields, but most people, even very skilled warriors, can't hit through them...

Strange that I can hit through double shields quite alot of the time and I don't have very great fighting skills or attributes.... Try fighting against someone your own power. You can't expect to be able to kill the people who have been playing for years just after a couple of weeks easily.

err, anyone mind if i go back to the first argument? any way, i think that armour/clothes should have requerments and boost certain stats when equiped, because the robe and the wizards hat are prity much useless so they could boots your chances of casting a spell or make the spell more powerfull, but you would nead more inteligence to wear it. The heavy armour should give you better parry (mabey?) but you would nead a high constitution and strength to wear it.
Mages
Yes, we could have requirements for some articles of clothing. But since mages could no longer wear heavy armour, we could use some sort of magical armour. I don't know about these things adding to your attributes, but your skills maybe.

Sure, cloth are useless. Thats the reason, why I am sitting in chainmail in front of my computer.
In the future it is planned: armor will have a certain effect on magic (i.e. decreasing the effectiveness in some way). Every armor could be worn by EVERYONE as long as he can carry it (why shouldn't we allow this. I am no trained warrior in RL, but I may also wear a plate mail).
Most mages wouldn't use heavy armor due to this system, due to thinking about it, not due to game mechanics. They will be able to carry less other stuff and will cast spells worse if they wear armor.
Spell books won't be sold (at least not all). Many of them will be received as a reward for a quest. This way some runes might be very seldom.

I like the idea of recieving runes from quests.
To elaborate on magic effects on armour:
- Sure, heavy armour takes effect out of magic (I have seen it in many games)
- Then some armor doesn't provide physical resistance, but magical resistance
- Some armour (above) increases magical effects slightly
Maybe not exactly, but maybe somthing along those lines.

Too bad my idea will probably never be introduced, oh well it would be nice.

Well digdorion I say is pretty invincible he really surprised me when he was able to
take on the whole town by himself so he was pretty "invincible" he was unable to
be hit with swords and he had the highest magic resistance I ever seen so I agree
