LAG_TEST AGAIN / Noch ein LAG-Test

Post by Falk vom Wald »

---

Attention please! We soon will start another lag-test. This time, we'll make it big. The maps, as you use to know them, are all disabled. Every building, anything else, you will only find pure empty areas.

Please join the test, move, interact, comunicate... The faster we get our datas an your feedback, the faster we can end this test.

Lag is still presant n the enviroment, mostly caused by the number of players moving around, and then number of monsters walking around.

6.6.04
Time: 11:41 Central (17:41 Gmt)

There are 19 players online and all are moving around and fighting. Nothing seems to be lagging and everything is fine and dandy.

Im not cool like everyne else with numbers, but I can tell you when I started lagging.
It was anytime alot of people were moving and I would try and cast. That and attacking and trying to cast lags the hell outta me. and then when all the monsters came...not the mummies but after them...yeah...I had buttloads of lag...but I am also on a 56k with AOL...so that may have been it.

Lucky you, I have 56k modem. I got lag during the times magic was cast a lot and at other random points when nothing much was happening on my screen, but perhaps somewhere else in the game.

Absolutely no lag today (dsl), but i also tried something else : I ran the client in compatibility mode for win95.
Try this, if you have WinXP, and test the lag in normal server state.

@Ark : Illa is PLAYABLE with AOL ??? WOW. Then, they have improved.
I can remember that, three years ago, it was absolutely IMPOSSIBLE for AOL users to play illarion (every minute, one step, and they flew out every two minutes - that's what i heard).

Well if I try to run in compatibility mode, with win 95-98 it wont even let me open the log in box.

I had no lag, even when there were hundreds of bits of zombies and skeletons strewn about the place. Once every ten minutes I got a big burst of lag, that lasted for about 30 seconds, but other than that it was quite alright.

Edit- tested on Windows Xp with a 56k modem.

@ Damien

3 years ago i played Illarion with Win2000, AOL and a 56-modem too. Never there was a problem (except AOL doesn`t worked  ). The Lag was not so much like now.

And today: Cable Modem, WinXP -> no lag during the test

In case you haven't noticed, all the skills and stuff lost during the test are still, well... lost. Not that that matters much, of course. Is that permanent?
