The orcs have arrived...

Post by Grudok »

You find yourself staring out at the wastelands, curious. Why had everyone in the village said not to go there, why did they avoid it? It made no sense, it didnt look that bad... there was something living out there, you can see the palisades and crude huts of the people living there. There was a great fire in the center of the village, but no people. You stare at it for a while, uncertain, wondering if you should go out there or not. Curiosity gets the best of you. You slip and slide down the ash-covered hill, looking around at the dry, unfertile, red dirt. You walk around the outskirts, uncertain. At a closer veiw, this place doesn't as benign as you thought. There was blood, weapons, and skulls. Human skulls. That's it, you've seen enough, you want out! You turn to leave, but then, thats when things get bad. A door on one of the largest buildings slams open. A big, muscly, green-skinned beast with large tusks stumbles out of the building, clad in leather armor, holding an axe in one hand and a bottle of ale in the other. You can't beleive it. An orc. But that was supposed to be a myth, a legend, a story! Something the elves made up to explain their difficulties and focus their hatred on! NOT real! The orc looks at you, almost as shocked as you are. "Ey boss, a umie!" he shouts, in his gutteral language, part human, part... something else. It's crude and odd, but thankfully, some of it is based on the common tounge, so its at least partially understandable. But you realize how stupid it was to look at him instead of run... running for your life, like you wish your legs would let you do now. Because "boss" has come out of the fort, much bigger than the orc you were staring at, carrying a massive two-handed axe, and a nasty temper as well. "Umie!", he half-says, half-snarls, "Meh gunna clomp ju, an den eet ju, an den put jur 'ed un a stikk!" The creature lets out a nasty grin. Another orc, this one female, walks up behind this orc and hits him on the back of the head. "Owch!" he yelps. "Grudok [as you learn the large orc's name is], ju ib a tupid-hed! Ju nub clomp umie yet! Weh git in-fur-mashun, den aks da umiez frendz fer shineez fer 'iz return. If hum nub hab ani frendz, den ju kan eet him." and then she thinks for a second and says: "But ju share wit meh!" You still feel frozen to the ground. Then two orcish grunts drag you off by the shoulders, and you pray that you will be delivered from whatever torture they have in mind soon...

Hi everyone, this post is to let you know that Grudok and some other orcs have almost arrived in Illarion, as soon as our accounts are activated. The Stormreaver Orc Clan (originally of Ultima Online) might just make a fort here, if all goes well. They're a violent, nasty bunch, and love to fight and raid human towns. The only thing we like more than that is RPing. Other orcs to look out for are Kal'Rak, Gorgon, and Og'din. There's quite a few other Stormreavers that are interested. And maybe a few existing orcs here that dont have a clan?
Well, maybe you should check out our site at www.atlantic-orcs.org to get a taste of what our RP is like and if you'll like it or not. Hopefully you will, and Im looking forward to making all kinds of cool friends here, and even some fun enemies.

as long as you and the others don't start endless attacks on town or something like that all is well. don't overdo it with ya "raids".

And maybe you could leave Illarion orc-speak as it is, without complicating it even moreso. (or deconstructing it into net speak)

Welcome to Illarion, enjoy the game.

Good to hear more and more orcs are coming. But you could use any tone of talk you want, just try to make it a little more understandable, but it's good from what I read, I can still understand it. But when you arrive don't be surpised if you come across another orc tribe and clan or two, there are currenlty two others. THey may become your rivals depending on how you deal with them. You shall see, just remember to follow the rules of this game as it is free and all :) Well welcome to the community and world of Illarion. We (and hopefully us all) hope you enjoy your experience and stay here, and that you all have fun.

From the player of the orc,
Grunith Shuth.

Stormreavers ... sounds too much like "Warcraft" for me to like it.

Original Names are better in my opinion.

The Clan of the Axe welcomes every new player who chooses to play the bad guys in a proper RP-way. Our axes are sharp and ready to chop off many orcian heads in a row.

Not that this game is about fighting, but foes are a little like spice for a soup.

First, our raids will be announced over ICQ to our enemies, if they wish. When we fight an enemy, we make sure to have some mutual rules set up. If the enemy wants no looting, then neither side is allowed by superiors to loot. And we prefer that anyway... If you want announced raids, alright then, but you better announce to us when you decide to storm the fort. We dont really like that, but if HAVE to have it that way... we ALWAYS RP before a fight, never, ever doing the Kill On Sight thing that some so-called "RPers" do.

Second, thats in no way "net speak." It's orcish. Clans can have their own dialect or version of orcish, thats in a lot of stories out there, and Im sure the GMs have no problem with it. Most orcish languages are a mix of some old, forgotten language and a degraded version of human. But I dont know where in the world you got the idea that that was net speak.

Third, I understand the issues of understanding, however, there IS a link in my signature to our language page, and Grudok has always been the hard one to understand. The rest are relatively easy.

Fourth, our name is just fine. It actually makes sense when you see us in action and our way of playing. We fight like a huge, chaotic storm, ready to tear apart our enemies by sheer force. They have very aggressive personalities, and will get mad at the drop of a hat.

Fifth, I can understand the worries over having to deal with a bunch of PKs. Don't worry, we dont do that. We RP most of the time, raiding is just a fun past-time. We have been known to even associate with some human guilds, mainly necromancers and undead. We are more than happy to co-opperate with other orc clans, and Im pretty sure that lizardmen will be the same, as long as they arent too pro-human and good. Our clan isnt evil, but it definitely isnt good.

This isn't Ultima Online...

And I like to refer to Stormreaver's raids. Not your own. :D

Hello, yes there are some major differences between ultima online and this game. I'll explain to your old ways to what you can do now.

1) The ICQ thing doesn't really need to be done here. As in this game, you can rp a raid without even knowing on the otherside, this is the element of surprise. And as you said it is always good to rp a fight in the beginning. If you are threatening you could use actions and the such against the other and attack afterwards but you have the right idea in the end of of your statement there.

2) Yes you can use any language you want in this game. It can be a dialect of your own clan's orcish as there are others. I have come up with some words and phrases of my own that is a little hard to figure out. If you say your version slowly then you can figure it out :) But it is very good. But that is ok.

4) That is how an orc acts in every fantasy ;) Very well and do just that, but remember to read the rules about killing. There are those such as RES killing.
http://illarion.org/illarion/us_rules.php

5) Very well, but just remember that there are different groups within this game you should get familiar with that you may want to check out first. Other than that there is nothing wrong.

Also this game has it's own history. We have many god's and if you wish to learn more about them then there is a link to this website for the official history. http://www.moonsilver.de

Here you can learn about how the orcs and other races where created and what past evils in previous ages came to be. Just remember to read this if you want to make a complete adaption from Ultima Online to this game :) Thank you for reading this although some of my words may have made no sense. Thank you again and I look forward to rping with you.

Yeah, we can be tough to understand sometimes, just try saying it out loud a couple of times...

Well, I use ICQ for some other, kinda important stuff... but yeah, Im glad we dont have to announce things. Some guilds and groups that RP get really upset over that for some reason though...

Rez-killing is disgusting, I hate it, Im glad its bannable here.

Ive had a lot of fun RPing here, you guys have a great playerbase.

Yeah well this isn't Ultima Online. Just think of it as another world. Surprising your enemy is part of the role playing. Makes it more intresting I think.

I used to play Ultima. Was fun. Was in a guild called Knights of Justice played on Novus free shard. We were the biggest pk targets in the entire shard. Although the best players on the shard in our guild too (AKA - Dad and friend). Ultima didn't consist of RP though. Some shards were RPing ones. I never played on any of those though.

I think rez-killing is banned because well, it ruins RP :D

If you are planning a bigger event, try to spread some hints on the boards. For example let the people know that some scouts of your tribe were sighted next to town.

And remember, there are many people here that don´t speak english as their mother tongue.

Illarion is a rather small world. It´d be fine to communicate with the GMs if an orc raid (with such a great group) fits in the recent situation. Furthermore you should search contact with the existing orc tribes.
