perhaps, but back when i started playing Illarion it was very easy to gain skills, and in little time you could become a great smith, and a really strong fighter/mage. So people joining illarion now, will have to work so much harder to reach the same point.

In the future, when Illarion leaves its alpha stage, will there be a character wipe. As due to the newish changes to the game, there is a great disadvantage to new players. Just a thought ...

Does standing on or beside an anvil actually help your smithing skill to increase?

Yeah, I understand, but I guess for people new to the game, it wouldn't seem so obvious to go search for existing topics of the same nature.

But maybe these are important topics, that need to be addressed again.

I've seen various attempts to liven up Illarion, through roleplaying ; For Example, that race war that dwarf started. And immediately, instead of playing along, people just say "you are weak, I will kill you" and then claim that they are great roleplayers. Well, that was kind of off-topic,...

I went on a lone search for the monsters. But then, I got lost, and confused, and kinda hungry. So, I just kinda stood around in this building south of the tavern. There were skeleton lookin' thingies there. But they wouldn't respond to my flaming.

As a result of the new skill system, people have to spend longer smithing and everything to get to a high enough level for them to be satisfied. Because everyone's time is spent doing things like this, there is not alot of time to roleplay. Who wants to get in a fight when they are not good at fight...
