ok, figured it out.

It seems the character name is case sensitive.

Like I said, I've been gone for some time.

Like I said I was just on last night, and now this morning I can't get on.

I have been gone for quite some time now.
I came back and logged in fine last night.

I tried again this morning though and get the message that the character does not exist.
