Why was I not chosen?
The question echoed in his mind over and over again as he paced sadly down the forest trial. The memory of the morning's shocking announcement would not leave him. For years he had been the most loyal and obidient apprentice of the group. Never had he ever been late for any meetings nor failed to obey any rule. He was clearly the best candidate and yet, he was not the one who was chosen by the High Priest this morning. Why? In his mind he knew the answer. The one chosen from the group was the son of a wealthy noble. The others would follow him around trying to win his favor and he would always walk about in a cocky stride. Clearly his father had payed good money for this. He destested him and he detested it all. He grit his teeth, as he clentched his fist in anger. How could this happen? Was money really so important that it can achieve anything?
