Food...

Post by Rudelius »

Alright...I know I'll probably find this out in a couple of days but I figured I might as well ask anyway...

Do you eat and drink in order to stay alive? or do we have appetite's like robots ;)

Also...I have a stupid 56k modem with limited internet...will my guy die if he is not fed in time when I'm offline? (that is assuming the answer to the first question is yes)

The answer to the first question is sort of. You don't HAVE to eat, but if you get hurt, it heals you. Do I have to answer the second?

Yeah...they say that ADSL will be in our area somewtime around mid-fall...I can't wait. I almost live in the middle of nowhere. Currently I'm not in the cable service area nor in the ADSL area and I'm not gonna get satellite...I can't wait!

Anyway thx Paul for clearing that up...I just ddidn't want to get into the game and the next day see my character lying on the ground dead....

...on that note, one more question...

When you are offline....what heppens with your character (I'm sure I'll have plenty of offtime with my limited internet :S).

ADSL... isn't that only for businesses or something?

Your character disappears when you log off.

i think anyone can get ADSL, most of my friends have got it and i'm stuck with the 56K. My mum and dad dont see the point in it. But when i play, the game runs smooth, not much lag unless i dig really fast :D

My modem hates me tho...it'll all of a sudden disconnects every now and then for no apparent reason. I've gone into Internet Options and stuff like that but I still can't find out why.

It'd be kinda funny tho if someone was chasing me and all of a sudden I disappear because of disconnecting and then reappear in a couple of minutes to see he is gone :P (Would still suck tho)

Anyone can get DSL as long as their phone company has the infra structure available. And it is MUCH better than cable.

Nothing happens to your character while off line. When you log back in you continue just as if you had never left.

If you get disconnected without hitting escape though, your character will be left standing for few seconds until the server knows you are disconnected. Believe me this happens to me a lot also. I don't have cable because I can't afford it. My phone connection is only 15.95 per month. Cable in my area would be around 40.00 - 45.00 per month. So I'm stuck with the phone line for awhile.

DSL is a trade off. It's not much better then cable. Cable can go faster then DSL can but dsl is reliable, same speed all the time. cable fluctuates rather wildely unless you have the luck of being on a non-busy network.

And yes i'm running a notoriously unreliable 56K and have been kicked several times. The game refreshes a couple of times a minute and then you're char will be off.

Ah apparently that would depend on where you are then.
In Belgium cable goes up to 800kps, whereas my adsl here is 2.5 Mbps

lol with all these people with 56ks....I don't feel so bad anymore :P

But yeah....it does depend on where you live when it comes to what is faster. Like I said earlier, neither is in our area yet but I hope it'll come soon

Well, I used to have a 56k anyway, and it was really good for a really good price. You can get 10 hours for free, including free email. Or you can get unlimited access for only $9.95 US. Its the best deal i've seen so far. Just visit http://www.netzero.net for more information.

56k really isn't that bad for web surfing, its just downlaoding and playing top of the line games online.
