I see a lot of people placing shovels and fishing rods on the ground in order to "speed up" the digging or fishing process.
It goes faster to click shovel on ground and then rock, than shovel in hand
and then rock.Same thing for fishing and herbloring.
Is this allowed or not?

If it is, could any GM please confirm this.

If it is not, should those doing so be reported?
Feels a bit unfair sweating while the one next to you mines or fishes twice as fast by breakin the rules(if it is breaking the rules).

It can be very dangerous to fish or dig in that manner.
Common it´s not forbidden, but it can be a form of powergaming, if you do it a lot.

It gave many proposals to avoid that, for example, you can only dig, if the shovel is in your hand, but it takes time to convert it, so we can´t do anything except waiting.

Actually this doesn't speed up anything, as the server can't even process your commands with the same speed as you give them while holding your tool in your hand. It's just for lazy people who don't like moving their mouse more then a few millimeters...

Someone doing this is always in the Danger to be theft of his Shovel, Sickle, Rod or whatever he just uses.
Also the Client "stores" much of the Clicks you do and sends them with a huge delay to the Server. You could get kicked from the server for this.
Or you cant react on an Attack, because the Client still works on the Command you gave him.

Also, most people dont even realize that, it takes exact the same time if you use your shovel on the Ground or in your belt/hand.

It has some huge disadantages, but it is still common.

Yes with laying the tool on the ground every one can see what you are doing.

Super, i think i said all this with my comment "It can be very dangerous........" Why do we explain now how people can damage persons, which for example dig with the shovel on the ground?

Those are all basic points and ofcourse you may loose a sickle or shovel, or get attacked, but those are other issues.

Is it breaking the powergaming rule? Is it allowed? Will I get banned if its done? (Y/N)

No, it is not against the rules.
No, it is not powergaming unless you do it for extensive periods of times. (its not powergaming because it takes the exact same time to process as if it were on your belt and you were mining. Plus powergaming is doing something for an extensive period of time for the sole purpose of gaining skill, some people might just need coal or iron. If you follow the 3 hours=1 day thing than over 30-40 minutes of mining without stopping would be powergaming.)

If you sincerely think you will get into some sort of trouble by using this method, than dont use it. This method is only for lazy people, such as myself, who dont feel like moving their mouse from the ground to the belt constantly (as adano said earlier). It doesent speed up the process any.

Well, I like laying the tool out to show others "what" I'm doing. If my character is standing off by herself, its hard to figure out what she is doing. If she has a sickle on the ground, its obvious.

I have never thought laying the tools was faster. I only use them for rp reasons.

Same with me. I do it with herblore so people can see I'm working, but not mining, because thats obvious.

Aye....and I don't like clicking it too fast or else people come up and talk to you and you cannot talk back and look really stupid because they ask "How are you?" and you just sit and stare somewhere.

Actually, I don't feel stupid when that is happening, considering Bloodhearte has been an anti-social dorkus lately.

As far as I know, the #me-command is implemented for showing actions and emotions.
To drop a tool and say *hey its to show others what I'm doing* is a cheap excusion.

Um...Well when someone walks along and says "What are you doing?" after you said what were you were doing, it gets annoying.It's like a constant message that says " I am using this tool "

I believe it is just an excuse to say you put your tool on the ground so people can see what you are doing. When you are smithing do you lay your hammer on the ground so people can see what you are doing? No, because it is closer to your iron ore if you leave it in inventory. If you are standing on a rocky area it is pretty obvious. If you are standing next to a river it is pretty obvious.

I'll admit I do it so I don't have to move the mouse around so much. When you use the computer as much as I do your wrist tends to get tired and every little bit helps. It doesn't mean someone is power gaming because the server will only let you go so fast anyway.

Also People Can throw poison on your tool And you are usually forced to drink it. They can throw other things aswell Food for example
