Moving/Shoving people

Post by Arkadia Misella »

I just thought it would be nice if the move/ shove person button was another button on the keyboard different from the attack person button. To many times have I seen people accidently attack someone they did not mean to and usually it causes all hell to break out and chaos to ensue in the game when it was an out of game mistake. Just a thought.

As this button is mentioned more to be "push" than "move", there is always the risk, that the one being pushed falls to the ground and get hurt. In a few cases, if there is a sharp stone on the ground, hurt badly.
So it is the danger of pushing other people around, that you can come into an attack by pressing the keys to long.

And when you push someone there is always the chance that your war axe with swing round and decapitate them.

Oh, ho, ho. How about ye don't use a weapon? Someone told me you can place some gold in yer hand.

Ye can't kill someone with gold. Unless it were a dwarf. Eh, ho, ho.
You could always tie the dwarf's hands and feet together. Then you would place a piece of gold near em. Then all you have to do is watch, and see how the dwarf gets the gold.

I think the results would be interesting. :)

Eh, eh, eh.

Hrmph, also for alot of people, being pushed is not very nice, and must be responded to with drawing axe and spilling of blood.

Exactly my opinion, Mish. Except of the part with the blood of course...
To move around this little person on the screen might seem totally innocent or even some kind of childish joy to the player, but for the character in the world of Illarion it is very rude behaviour. Sometimes I think that players don't care enough of what they do would mean for their and the others chars.
Illarion is a roleplaying game, and therefore you should carefully consider what you would think if you would do that yourself or have it done to yourself before having your char do something.

this might be abit out of the topic, but i didnt want to opena new one
for this:

I find it a bit particular, that even the smallest and weakest people in
Illarion can shove around way bigger ones like a halfling pushing
an orc or a human, even if these are very heavy.
There should be a limit to what people can push, depending on their
strength and the weight of the other.

@Drague Very interesting thoughts...I agree. Little people with low strength should not be able to push massive people of enormous dimensions...perhaps what you can push can be determined by a strength : weight ratio where say if you have 10 strength then you can only push someone who is 100 kg or lower...

Someone who is 100Kg would have to be VERY big. Over 15 Stone, I believe.

Well, maybe this way:

if smaller/weaker people push bigger/heavier people those people normally
don't stumble as hard as if pushed by someone strong, or at least a lot
slower...

So the idea would be, that if someone weaker pushes someone heavy,
that person moves over weaker somehow, like the speed if you carry too much...

Hope someone understands my way of thinking and expressing...

But when you are pushed "slower" you have a greater penalty.

You cant stop your Character from beeing pushed, so if you are pushed from a weaker Person, and you are pushed slower, you would loose more Time due the Movment then when you would push back.

Somehow i dont know if this is understandable also.
