The Illarion School of Magic

Post by Nilo »

This is a school of Magic. What we will be doing is:
  • Teach Spells. We will share with you what they do, which is more powerful, & will learn the best situations to use them..
  • We will periodically patrol the town, making sure things are in okay order
  • We will have games, contests, and other events periodically
  • We will grow friendships and good names throught the world of illarion
  • Lastly, we will try our best to improve the economy, in any way we can. (we may have a shop in the future)
Grant Herion and I are establishing this school, hoping people will want to learn. We arent going to charge for exams and such, but we will try and have a tuition. If we DO have a tuition, it will be low. If it is high, we will have free mana potions to everyone in the school. The school will vote on the cost of the tuition, to decide whether or not we should do this.

As for the Magic Academy, I only hope to be friends, not competition.

If you would like to join this SCHOOL (not a guild) then please post here, or PM me. Thankyou.

I am happy to be apart of this school. In time perhaps I can be a teacher, but for now just a student, or a teachers assistant.

ooc: 1 complaint with the website is it isn't very good to roleplay with. Perhaps you can make it a bit more medival but having it different colors, darker and maybe have torches flickering. I really do like the magic academy's website, it has a good feel with it.

I am curious, why would a school build a shop?

WEll, this isnt the website, only the board for it. The website is under construction, and will be done soon.

AS far as the shop is concerned, it will be things for the school, such as books, potions, wands, that kind of thing. We may do fishing rods, and other things like that also, but as for now, we dont even have a shop. ;(

Well, I would have built on the Intermediate Wizards Guild, but it would have completely had to restart, and i didnt want to do that. We have completely different goals, principals, and this is a SCHOOL not a guild....those are also different.

We certainly want to be different than the magic academy, yes. But, to be against them....im not sure we should. Last time, they were all over me for saying something that sounded like powergaming....anyhow, this School is very much different.

((A semi good idea, but it's a little stinky for the roleplaying if there is a hobbit mage that runs a school...according to Moonsilver.de, and other numerous sources, hobbits are creatures that are supposed to be the worst out of all the other races with magic.))

First of all, we are not on the rpg board.

HObbits are supposed to be magical little creatures. And, who said i was a hobbit? IM a halfling! get it right! anyway...: ) .....Im not the only one starting the school. I DO have a partner in this matter.

If you think im not a good mage, then think again. Maybe you should duel me.....or another halfling mage. I know lots of halfling mages, and if you say halfling and magic dont agree, then perhaps you are saying that all those peoples rp is bad too?

Xerake, you started a school of ninjus, or whatever, and I didnt get all over you about that. Please dont get all over me about this. Thankyou.

Before you accuse someone else of bad RP, Nilo. Please read the official Background of your own Race.
You can read it here.

But i will quote you the relevant part:
Magic for sure is not their prime talent. May it be that there are some Halflings tempting the arts of magic but it is highly recommended not to be close as one or the other spell might turn out in a way which was not intended.

Just because of a races past doesn't mean they are all the same. I learned that from a elf earlier. He wasn't wise at all. I thought elves were wise intellegent beings...This one wasn't though.

Well, Kasume, your Example shows clearly that most Player are not able to play thier Characters Race properly.
  • Magical Halfings
    Friendly Orcs
    Unpleasant Elves
    Fishhating Lizards
The only Race you never can play completly wrong seems to be Humans.

Of course there are Exeptions in every Race, but sometimes i wonder why all these Exeptions gather in Trolls Bane.
But now back Topic.

Hermie, what do you mean when he gets better?

Our guild is going to have a mini-shop i am thinking. We will be selling mana potions, fishing rods, ham, and other foods. We will also be selling things like bluestone rings, wands, and that kind of things. If you have any ideas for things such as these, please dont hesitate to speak.

Also, if you want your guild to have a link on our page, then please post.

Thanks, ~nilo~

First, I never said you were bad at magic. I simply stated that hobbits/halflings were NOT good at magic, according to roleplaying fashion. Lord of the Rings, for example.

Want more proof? (www.moonsilver.de) Again, they are NOT magical, but rather, happy little creatures that tend to eat a lot, live in hills, farm, and stray away from unusual adventures.

Nobody forced you to shut your mouth about my school anyway. I'm allowed to say as I please.

Read Moonsilver, for an explaination why Lizards can stay on Land.

Sometimes there is no need to ask Questions, when the Answer is alreay given.

Us being lizardMEN Guingalan, I imagine our feet and upright posture serve such a purpose as walking on land...otherwise, we would have large fins on our ends.

It's not a matter of 'judging them as all being the same.' It's great that there are a few exceptions, but these days, it's frustrating...

I see orcs drinking tea, saying 'quite a pleasant, peaceful day, isn't it?' Elves running around acting like drunkards, dwarves singing and chopping down trees. Lizardpeople eating sweets...and this new fad of hobbits becoming fighters and mages isn't helping the stale roleplay as it is...

The problem is, you never see a stereotypical person roleplaying his or her race properly. If you're going to choose a race, look on their history first...I worship the water goddess Zelphia (known as Tanora is other tongues), I love fish, I refrain from sweets, I love to swim...(before you say I MUST drag my 's' sounds, I'll have you know that it doesn't matter what race you are, you'll speak a language properly if you grew up saying it. My Asian friends sound like pure Americans, and I'm sure there's a white guy in Korea that can't say it right; it depends on where you live, NOT who you are).

If you can't decide what you're going to do, be a human...although we have too many of those these days...

At Nilo:

You aren`t the one who casted in town, without a good reason?
For example i think at an story which happens some days ago. You and an other halfling punished one who was called "Athin" or something like this.

Both, you and the other meant, that he was a thief. But there was no proof for it. You punished him, casted at him. You only terminated your punishment when he had died for some times.
I warned you. There was no reason for your punishment. You didn`t follow any unwritten and written general law. You have only done which you wanted.
If you have to fight or cast against someone or something, leave the town! Don`t fight in town if there is no necessary reason! Hold your private feuds outside of the town.

That is a reason, why i have to think that you are the wrong person to leads a school like this. Before you found a respectable group, a school or anything other one, learn the generall laws and follow them!

The town doesn`t need more groups, which are leaded by people, who thinks that they can do what they want.

Some other questions:

Why a school of magic needs a shop?
Why a school of magic has to found any patrol forces? Do we need more magic-warriors (wizards?)?

I thought schools a places of learning, knowledge and wisdom. Hmm....

Maybe this school will be something more.

Nilo, please tell us all, what your school will be and what makes it different from the Magic Academy.

In my oppinion a good teacher should be a person in a higher age and a wise one. And for magic it should be a Elb or a human. Cause these races are more magic friendly.
But anyway. Be careful. Magic can be stronger than you. And magic can control you and not the other way around.

Lennier, who are you to tell Me and Nilo how to punish a theif who ruined the Breakfast I made then KILLED ME. Lennier, we have proof he stole, he admitted it. Why don't you not flame Nilo in his personally school.

Do you have any proof, that he has stolen? When you punished and killed him you founded in his buckets anything what he has stolen? - NO!
I was in your near, when you punished him... And yes.. let me say, i think it was too much. There was no reason for your doing.

Why i say something like that? It`s simple. I want to warn everyone, to avoid a group like this, which is leaded by people who don`t know anything about simple rules and laws.

Now, I said everything what was to say. There will not be more... ((Each further explanation would be OOC)).

Ahhhhh! This is not the RPG board! we arent role playing! so, you can state every thing you want to that is ooc.

Now then....I am sorry to all of those who disagree with my role playing of being a mage and a hobbit at the same time. But, the fact is, Ive already created him to be a mage, and the way he is is the way he will remain.

This school is founded by two people. Nilo, and Grant. Not JUST me. Also, im not the only teacher, so dont act like the whole school is trash because im the teacher. We have others...

This school is different from the magic academy as much as we can make it, because One will like one or the other most likely. So, we wont have the whole "Master Mage" thing...(master healer...master reviver....etc.)
This school will accept anyone who is: Willing to learn, easy to get along with, and has a good reputation/background. (other exceptions can be made)

@lennier:

That whole thing about Athin.......was...very stupid and silly. Anyhow, you have mixed the story up a bit. After Athin(a male hobbit) was killed, for stealing,( which, i dont think is a valid reason) He then started kissing, licking, and kicking Bumbol And I. THEN you warned us of not kiling him. So, we didnt, as a result. Anyhow, you werent there the whole time, so you cant accuse us of something you didnt witness. It was behind our backs, we apologized, and so on.
(Also, he claimed to be on Darloks side in the war, and he got some money from Darlok which Crosis paid, which upsettened us....not that that has anything to do with it)

The school has a Mini-shop. Its not a real shop for anyone outside of the school. Its simply for us, to buy wands, mana potions, books...etc. Its not for anyone else really. No, its not terribly important, but its helpful when you cant find a druid around that will sell you mana potions.

We dont have a patrol force. We are only going to patrol (maybe) the town to see if everything is okay. Which, falls under one of our goals: To keep peace with everyone.

Xerake, are you accusing everyone else other than yourself of bad rp?

please leave this thread for school related things only please and not flames and such of Nilo's past and mistakes. Whats done is done end of that.
Back on topic: Nilo, we should begin finding out students with possible magic talent and train them. Nilo, I think we should only train 1 student at a time so we can make sure that the student will know how to use magic and not abuse for attacking, only for defense.
