Escape

Post by paul laffing »

Dust blows through a town that seems deserted. The grass looks brown and parched. The river yearns for a drink of water. The fish escape to a better spot, as does Paul Laffing. Paul hikes across mountains and swims across rivers. He crosses a vast desert. He suddenly finds himself at the bottom of a great castle that seems deserted. He takes out a piece of parchment and a golden quill and writes a message:

Dear Malinne,
I have temporarily left town to try my luck elsewhere. I find myself at the base of a deserted and rundown castle, which is mostly destroyed. If you want to find me, I have enclosed a map I have sketched of my route. Please tell no one else, if anyone else even cares to know.

Yours truly,
Paul Laffing

Paul attaches a hand-drawn map to the letter and enfolds the small package in a piece of paper, which he throws to the wind. He then enters the decrepit, void castle.

I hope you come back soon, the world seems empty ecept the people here, nature I feel is desolate beyond the island, ecept for monsters that roam, trollsbane may have been too small and have escaped the destruction. As for me I have planed a journey me and my half-sister Auanaina Darken are making a journey to my home village whitch was destroyed where my mother and father lived as my sister and I are almost full blooded elves, my sister looks more like a human than an elf, from our family having a small amount of human blood. I also plan on visiting a home of 2 families of elves that are living on the shoreline, who recently sent me a message as they were freinds of my parents, and bring some goods to them and to plant some wildflowers where my town once stood when I was very yound. But I am going to build a boat to travel there and back.

Dear Paul,

I too have left town temporarily. I have been wandering the forests alone and taking time to think about the many things running through my head. I am enjoying the solitude and I can almost forget my illness when I am alone where it is quiet, calm and beautiful. As for my illness however, it shows no sign of going away... I am still fighting even though I no longer fear death itself. I have continued taking potions to ease the pain and they do seem to be working for that. Paul, I will surely pay you a visit or talk to you when I run into you in town.

Paul, after walking back in town, finds a letter at his feet. He reads it, and writes a reply.

Dear Malinne,

I hope you feel better. I have decided to come back to town because leaving would be giving in. I hope you do visit some time, but enjoy the peace and quiet while you can, and I shall be jealous.

Yours truly,
Paul Laffing

Paul throws the letter to the wind, knowing the divine spirits will bring it to Malinne.

Gerard sees Paul let the wind carry his letter he just wrote and walks over to where he is standing

Hey Paul, who was that letter for?

Gerard doesn't think the wind will carry it to it's correct destination

Paul squints at Gerard.

Who are you to know?

Paul starts to walk away.
