Vocations

Post by Kasume »

Ok so are vocations REAL? I mean I don't seem to understand how to use special abilities that I so call have? If there is special abilities that you CAN use then please tell me how! I would love to know how. I forget when creating if it asked you anything about that.

There are only 3 "vocations" right now...Mage, Druid, and Warrior. The other ones listed on the webpage are not implemented yet.

To all "narrowminded Players":

You can pick some other vocations as shown above.

Tailor
Backer
Peasant
Fisher

or even:

Priest
Bard
Jester

You dont need to stick at the (at this moment restricted) system that much.
After all there is a big Role in the Word Roleplaying-Game.

Just because the System allow some "benefits" from choosig either Mage or Druid Knowleage doest mean you are restricted to this.

Glass blower
Carpenter
Wanderers(do nothing but talk and wander)

thats all that comes to mind...

Well so far when I made my character I made it to the point where I can't cast spells what so ever. So it looks like I am stuck a warrior class. Unless druid is something else. What is a druid exactly? Seems like I pretty much made my character one way. I am also a blacksmith but after all the work I have put into it. I can't make anything new! It's so hard to get my blacksmithing strong!

When you first make your character you have to add points to intelligence in order to cast spells. If your a warrior, then you wouldn't make a very good mage anyway. Anyone can be a druid, as long as they haven't already learned any spells. Druids harvest herbs and use them to make potions. Blacksmithing and carpentry are the hardest tradeskills to raise in the game, they take time, but are worth it in the end.

Ah perfect! I chose the hardest skill to learn! Woohoo! Blacksmithing! Ok....I am bored of the game now. Clicking and pressing shift all day. Oh well. Looks like I am just a born fighter. They need to explain these things in the beginning of the game. I learned spells thinking I could be a mage and now I can't. Wanting to goto druid..but cant now because I know magic. COME ON!! Give noobs some explanation once in a while! That's what they need! Tutorial giving you the basic outlook of the game! You can screw your character....Like I did. :x This game is VERY annoying.

If you just jump into life you can always make faults. Everyone could have told you in game, if you just asked instead of playing with something as mighty as magic all alone.

No actually I had friends helping me get spells and things. I had other people telling me to try different things. I didn't just start buying spells.

You are annoyed and bored of this game?
Try some other.
Or take a time out in RL, i heard its also full of adventures.

By the way, it is not very suprising to me if you get bored when you just do smithing all you Online Time.

Actually looking at the map me and Fooser took a tour around the map and I found this weird teleporting thingy. You don't know everything I have done in it. We ran from demons galore and went to a forest. Noobie me I filled my inventory up with stupid food items. Dunno what I did with em. Was a little while back. The map of the game isn't really that big and adventerous.

If you don't like the game....leave. It's as simple as that. Some of us actually do appreciate the quality roleplaying element of the game. There are plenty of other games that do have "big and adventerous maps."

Kasume, I can answer your question in 5 words: Choose it* and Fake it*.

*it= vocation.

Heh, I'm loving this game for all the reasons Kasume doesn't! Where else can you grow full heads of cabbage or bake 50 cakes in a few minutes. Call me a big dork, but love the character interaction. Hey, I've only killed one pig! (Tried to make mince meat pie! hehe) Anyway, check the links section - there are some good resources there for newbies.

M hm..than how would I ever have gotten excepted into the game? For one...I never see anyone actually being a adventurer in this game. Everyone sits in town role playing while sitting near a fire. I see people flirting and crap and it's dumb. Not one person I know OR seen has gone out to actually....adventure in a group. No one. I used to play games where big packs would go adventuring and split money up. It would just be for fun. Not to level up. In some cases we coulda got more skills higher if we HADNT gone adventuring with others. No one goes adventuring to kill something. Everyone is strong though. Do you just sit there in the noobie forums telling people that they have no imagination? I can sit here and send you a message of a entire story of my character and his past if you would like. I could tell you my character's intrests and goals and what not. If you would like a story on my character then please say so.

Eh sorry. Forgot to add. Also Viola. If you ask me in messages I can name many games just like this.

Bye bye Kasume,

you realy seem to dislike Illarion, dont torture yourself with our wired Playingstyle anymore.
I like the Chatting, the Flirting and the spared Words near a Campfire.
Kasume, you discribe a "Hack n' Slay" , but Illarion is a Roleplaygame.

You might go an take one of your other Games, if not you should get used to the athmosphere in Illarion.

Oh my god Darlock. You REALLY didn't understand a SINGLE word I said above there did you? You are a fool....you know that? And when I meant flirting people were reffering to whip cream. Trust me I was NOT reffering to a hack n slash. Hack n slash is what you say when talking about Runescape. And I can tell you this (Runescape sucked). I am talking about actual role playing. You can say all you want about how this is not the game for me. Go ahead. Although I must say.....I yet to see Darlock NOT kill anyone.

Also when you say hack n slay you say hack n slash. What I was reffering to was going on a adventure once in a while!!!!!!! People just go out kill get the fighting skills up and then goto town to kill people that they hate. That's what people do (from what I have seen) No one kills monsters with a party or group of people to HAVE FUN. That's what a game is about! HAVING FUN. Not role play chatting. "Oh hi old friend" "Hi it sure has been a while good friend" "Aye, it has" *hug*. Whoa...now that's jampack fun!

Also a huge Map with deep Dungeons.

Bye bye Kasume.

Hm, I can understand him at least a bit. He described what you did tonight, Darlok. Going on an adventure with a bunch of friends.

Kasume, it is possible to do so in Illarion. The Grey Rose did so a half year ago, when Jean Long, the wife of Count Aragon was missed. We travelled for weeks through desert landscapes and encounterd several dangers. We had "riddles" to solve and to look for supplies out in this enemy desert.

The point is that you´ll have to find some people that will do so with you and somebody that has a plot (you can think of one for yourself). And don´t forget to take your imagination with you :-D

Ps.: Flirting at the campfire is fun, too ;)
And don´t call people a fool at an ooc board...

Well what i "did" today is hopefully an exeption from the rule.

I dont like it when someone fights in the Town, but now i lead a (strong) group of fighters and friends to do so.

Well, it was fun. Hopefully for others who watched also.
But please dont copy my behavior too much, i cant stand a copy of my Char

Sure, such actions are the spice in the normal life of Illarion. And if I understood it right, Kasume asked for nothing else.

He isn´t in the wrong game. If you plan it and prepare it well, fighting and adventuring is an enriching alternative. What are heroes made of? Adventures and unusual situation.

To want some action doesn´t automatically mean that you want to hack & slash. But it should stay the exception.

Kasume...I am new like you, and I used to play Runescape like you. I also got my account after you did. Don't listen to what Darlok is saying, and don't worry about what other people say (that is how Crocket almost left). Most people are nice here, unlike on all those MMORPG. Here when you say "Hi", they say "Hi" or "Greetings" back. On most MMORPG's people sometimes just tell you to "**** off".

Anyway, about vocations, you have to say and do things like you were had that vocations for now.

Here are some roleplay hints:
1. Do not just mine and smith all the time or you will get bored fast.

2. Make friends and go on quests together (by quest i mean an adventure to kill some monsters for fun, like when people go to the demon cave)

3. Be social and don't anger others (take note of that second part, I angered a hobbit and he cast alot of spells on me to get back at me  ).

4. Don't worry if you are a slow typer (i am  ), you will get better if you talk with others alot.

5. Have fun :!: !

6. Pretend to do things using the #me command (example: say using the #me command, place an apple one someone's head, then move away and say:#me aims his crossbow at the apple and fires. After that [make sure you have an apple and a crossbow bolt] quickly place an apple and a crossbow bolt, on the same space, a few spaces behind the person with the [said to have] apple on his head. Finally it looks like you shot an arrow through the apple [or you could fire the arrow from a crossbow and target them to where you actually do hit him and then say you missed  ]).

Also if you need any more help i'll be avable in the forms every weekday. Ingame on weekends or earily in the morining (6:00-7:00 central time) on week days.

I think that´s exactly the wrong way. Monsters should stay something serious for your character. I really hate people that shout out without any shame (and, worser, without any RP background) "Hey, let´s go fighting some Demons! Who´s with me? Come on, i´ll block them for you!"

"Oh, mummys. They make good thread..." Such things are ruining the game. Monsters should be respected and feared.
