A proposal of my own, about flame wars

Post by Cain Freemont »

I would like to propose that, in light of recent happenings, a "Flame" sticky be placed in each board. This way, a rule can be added that says if anyone starts a flame war, both arguing parties must at least take it to the Flame thread and duke it out there, otherwise penalties for failing to comply with be put into place. Any comments?

A nice idea tho..if it were to happen I think the borads would be prety quite as (I mention no names) would be there all the time.

somtimes you have to get things off your chest, but if you do, it turns that topic into an argument and it spirals out of control :?
so a board just for flaming would cut down on people going off topic a bit more

You shouldn't flame on the boards in the first place.

I was going to write something, but then I saw Elaralith's post. Hopefully others will do the same thing...

I agree with Elaralith. Public forums are no place for flame wars.

If you want to flame, take it to private messages.

The only reason you want to flame in open forums is so you can show people that you are a better flammer. Basically, we don't care :)

I agree with Thereadore. Flaming should be kept private. There is no reason to bring it public.

People also need to learn better writing skills and netiquette also so they dont so accidently start insulting, and always have a "happy" face. Not a "what a loser" face.

Use the Emoticons, thats what they are for. :D

I just dont get it some people just dont stop flaming...

Yes, everyone (including me  ) needs to be careful what they type.
Some people can reply with messages that are demeaning and rude without realizing it.

Just use the preview button and read as if someone is saying it to YOU, then decide if it is rude or not.
