generally elves live for a really long time because of pure blood keeps them safe from disease so the only way to kill one is non-natural. just thinking of a generally accepted reason.

Just use the "create new character" function in the illarion.exe and look at the maximum age for each race and compare it in ratio to the human maximum age to get an idea of how long they live.

Humans - 60-80 years
Halflings - 80-100 years
Orcs - 100-120 years
Lizzards - ~150 years
Dwarves - 200-250 years
Elves - until they chose to whither...

@Roke It depends on the kind of fantasy. In Tolkien fantasy, all races are mortal except Elves who get to choose when they 'fade'. A general rule of thumb would be: All races are mortal with the exception of Elves who can die through violence, but never through sickness.

Tolkienic elves also die if they loose their will to live.

@Caranthir No they don't 'die' in the human sense. Their spirit goes to the "Halls of Mandos" and the elf in question returns sometimes in the form of another body. Just wanted to clear that up.

I don't think the mortality in Tolkien's novels or any other place matters.

What matters is the mortality in Illarion.

elves can get sick if its through poison. But hobbits live 120 I though, and will our characters die and we would have to start another one, and how fast does our character age? as fast as us?
