we did. And I only see one person called "Zauberer XXX" means "Mage XXX". So i dont think that titels are shown after you name.
Also because everytime I introduce i see my Name with a backspace in front. No idea why. When I start again it is fixed until I introduce again.
And i recognized the Phantom-pictures again since today.

Wohoo!
Actually I want to edit my title. I wrote it in a beer mood, having no clue about Illarion and listening to too much "Einstuerzende Neubauten".
But also I think the title shouldn´t be displayed every time I write something in Illarion, as for the rules state: "A title is NOT part of a name..."
The way it is done now, the title is part of the name. Can a programmer also be banned for enforcing me to break rules?
As I posted in the proposal board, I think the title field as it is now doesn´t make any sense. Closing words by David Bowie "I can´t change time, but time can change me."
Just my two cents...

@Serpardum I think that both me and Moathia have titles. The reason why they don't show up in game is because we didn't put something like "the blacksmith" or "the mage". I think that it only works if you put something like "the warrior" etc.. Am I right? If so, I think that it should be changed so that if someone just puts "Mage" in their title box it shows up ingame infront of the person's name. Or a warning should be put beside the create title box to tell people to put "the XXXX".

As Elaralith said here I think it would been a great idea if people could make a tittle now....because back when we wanted to make charcaters we proberly didn't think the title option would actually start to happen.Elaralith wrote:But if there is no title would it be possible for us to add one now?
The answer you're going to get for that is "You should've known that everything you enter about your character is going to be used someday or else why would the option be there? So if put/didn't put a good/bad title for your character then it's your own fault."Korg Blacktooth wrote: As Elaralith said here I think it would been a great idea if people could make a tittle now....because back when we wanted to make charcaters we proberly didn't think the title option would actually start to happen.
I don't necessarily agree/disagree to that statement but my reply to it is that whether or not it's the players' fault for entering a bad/no title, forcing characters to be stuck with an inappropriate title for their roles doesn't do anything to help the roleplay now.
Then of course there's the more obvious problem that characters don't always have the same title/status/occupation throughout their life. But if we let players edit their titles at anytime they want, there's a good chance that they enter stupid titles, seeing as how we are still very far from getting rid of a lot of stupid players. Then for example someone could want to title themself "XXXX the king of Troll's Bane", but who's to say whether such a title is legitimate or not?
So what would I prefer? I would rather just have no titles shown like it's always been, and just let characters roleplay telling their title/status/occupation to only who they want and only when they want. I don't see the point of forcing titles to be attatched to the name and clogging up the conversation screen and making character names look impersonal.
But if we must have the title option then I'd rather there be a way to seperate the name and title into seperate fields that are made visible through seperate functions like #i and #t, and then have some option to toggle on/off the title field so that you can easily make the title no longer visible when the title is no longer fitting for your character
And/or
allow editing of the title field only through email to a GM who approves the title and the reason for it. This probably means even more emails for GMs, but I think it's due time to find some new GMs to help out anyways.
Elaralith, you are right. You did have the title "Lady". Somewhere along the line when I was moving titles to Prefixes or Suffixes (does the title go before or after the name?) I botched some.
I got hte titles loaded into another database to restore them, but was having a hard time restoring them and fianlly said forget it.
I am planning, very soon, to allow players to change their own title's in game such as:
!prefix Lady
!suffix of the Lake
Which is actually a very easy thing to do. But, right now the code has some other changes in it that I have to debug fully before I release it which may take me a couple of days.
Please be patient.

Didn't want to start a new thread, so I found an old one pertaining to the !suffix name input. A few weeks ago I first put the !suffix "venTcimta" onto my default name, "Delakaniam". Every time I type in "!suffix venTcimta", it adds the last name on with no problems, but I've found that every time I log back in game, the suffix disappears, or at least on what I see displayed. I was wondering if anyone knew or could help me for the problem of why my !suffix name doesn't remain. Also out of curiousity, for those of you who know the character, does the last name "venTcimta" show up all the time?

Correct, you dont "remember" your own titles, but other players/characters/clients do.
Introducing yourself to yourself fixes that, if you find it disturbing.
But keep in mind, for tiles in the prefix and the suffix positions are also the namerules applying.
I have trouble speaking your title and allowing uppercase letters in the middle of a word.
Maybe you want to change that.
