Possibility that a name is already taken?

Post by Lord Auriel »

Hello.

I am just wondering what is done when the name you request is already taken. You see, I sent in a request for the name "Auriel" and then, out of curiosity, checked to see if I had been accepted (this was before I knew that it takes at least a week). However, instead of getting the message that says I have not yet been accepted, I got a message saying the password was incorrect. Now, I know I have not messed up with the password, so now I am wondering if this means that a player with the name of "Auriel" already exists and if I should send out a new request (typically not recommended), wait it out, or both?

Perhaps you might just inform me of a way of finding out if my character name is taken (an accepted player list of some sort which I may not know about).

I don't believe that this topic would require me posting my computer's statistics.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Create your character BEFORE you request autorization. Then you'll know that you have a good name.

Then give the name/password of the character you created.

You can create characters before autorization, you just can't play them.

I suggest that you state this directly on the site Separdum, I did the same misstake when I signed up but my name wasn't taken fortunatley, I think a short line saying you should FIRST create your character before mailing the info would be a good thing. As it stands now I think it can be easily missunderstood and so it takes more time for the ones trying to play and the GMs correcting these things.
