I was there and can confirm this to be true. It looks like whatever curse was done to Xavier's body is now taking effect and released this undead creature. It was very tall and golden; maybe the researchers on this island know about such a creature? It is able to summon even more undead with the chant of a formula.
I may be paraphrasing but it said:
"Mortals of Cadomyr. Herds among the blind! You deny the father and saviour who did give his life so that we could live our own. Your walls shall fall in ruin so that they may be built again! Surrender yourselves, Less you fall with them!"
