Croktin Skullcrusher - the little dwarf with the big heart

Post by Sevious Helios »

Croktin does not know this but I have decided to tell of his tale as he grew up. I think he deserves the recognition and so I will tell you all of his tale. These two tales between mine and his meet up along the way way into the future. But for now we will start at his birth."

40 years before I was born, a dwarf known as Croktin Skullcrusher was born to a dwarven family known as the Skullcrushers. His father was a dwarven warrior. His father always took up quest given to him by the king of Facias. His mother was also a dwarf but amoungst the others she was raised by humans back in the closest town of Oceanica. She met Croktin's father in Oceanica as he was looking for beer to buy from the local brewer to restock the tavern back in the city in Facias. Soon after they met the had fallen in love. Soon after they did, Croktin's mother left with Croktin's father back in Facias. There, she was not welcomed because of where she came from.

The dwarven king was known as Shezar Goldenheart. He was from a long line of Dwarven kings that ruled Facias since its liberation from the humans over 15 centuries ago. Shezar and the high council of elder dwarves stood before her to judge if she was one of them. They ruled in her favor because she was a full blooded dwarf but, despite this others around her treated her bad. Shezar and Croktin's father were the only dwarves that treated her as an equal. 35 years into their marriage, Croktin was born. His father, shortly after Croktin's birth, died from a beast he and the other hight templar gaurds of Facias were to slay. Croktin believes the beast was some sort of Basalisk, but he was not sure when he told me. His father was brought back but had no wounds. All he had was a blank stare as if something frightened him.

Heart broken at her husband's death, Croktin's mother took her infant and returned to the human town of Oceanica. There she nutured and cared for Croktin in the streets. You see...the human family that raised her moved away. At the age of 108 Croktin's mother passed away from a plague that struck the town. Croktin by this time, was 25 years old. He was barely old enough to support himself. He luckily didn't catch the plague. The remaining humans in the town blamed Croktin for the death of their loved ones. One day, not to long after the outbreak of the plague, an angry mob took up arms and chased after Croktin to catch him, have him tried for the killings of their loved ones, and put to death. he managed to flee the village but he had no idea where to go. The humans that were hunting him came looking for him even after he left the village. Croktin ran to the nearby mountain range of Facias to the humans for cover. A week passed and the humans still didn't find him. Croktin decided he was safe and walked away from his hiding place.

He traveled for a day around the mountain ranges but the humans spotted him. Croktin, not knowing of the humans in pursuit, continued to travel. That night Croktin set camp, the humans attacked and ambushed Croktin. Croktin was tied up and the humans chopped down a tree and stuck his head onto the stump lef over. The humans left him there that night while the slept. He was going to be beheaded in the morning soon as the sun arose over the horizen. He only hoped for a miracle to happen. About late night Croktin heard something in the bushes. Croktin looked up. He feared it may have been one of the savage mountain beast out for its dinner.....

"He was about to find out too. Perhaps it was his death sooner than he thought or it was a chance for him to escape. But you will have to listen to the next part of his tale when I tell you more. I hope you have listened well for another time it will get only better. Now off with you!"
