"Why do I have these feelings? I just wish they would cease. Leave me be. Let me be normal." He thought to himself for a moment as he pulled his cloak tighter about him after arriving on the docks. "Why don't I just end it all now? I could. No, no, but I can't. I must think of mother, ..and of the Gods. How would I be judged upon in their eyes? Oh! My mind plagues me.." A last thought before looking up, startled and realising he'd stood there in silence whilst all the other traveler had packed their things and gone along. He had become depressed these last few days and his mind regularly entertained visitations from darker, shadier, and quite gloomier thoughts. It came and went, his depression and could perhaps be described as almost bi-polar disorder. These last few days had gripped his mind and entangled it in a shroud of dark images and notions.
Gathering up his things he began down the cobblestone road, his thoughts racing through his mind at the speed of light. Where was he even headed? What would he make of himself? Could he contain his own emotions, or be consumed by them? He didn't know. And it scared him. The lengthy path was lonely, yet all was not lost. On his way down the pathway a hound pup sat alone beside it. As L'Arquay neared it, it turned its head and gave an energetic and happy bark his direction. He beckoned it and with a swiftness the pup was wagging its tail excitedly infront of him. "You wish to accompany me on my travels hound? Fine!" He grinned a little bit, and could almost pass for excited, "Your name will be Aela. Come now Aela! Let us go!" With that L'Arquay turned and continued on down the path, all the while the little black pup Aela followed in his shadow.
