Prey of the day...

Post by Ssaar »

~ Traveling west through the dense forest, her stature allowing her to keep beneath the brush and her thin mercenary armor to keep her quiet, she begins sniffing at the air as she is guided to what appears to be a weary human traveler resting beside a few large trees and looks to be finely dressed. His shiny armor and busty leather sack stand out from the patch of trees like a beacon to her greedy eyes. From the safety of cover and to the mans rear she calls out twice, making a test of his alertness she gets no response. Quietely hissing to herself beneath the brush she observes the man closely. He appears much larger than herself and equipped like that of a well decorated warrior, she hesitates for a moment before letting her self-will overtake her as she pulls out a sharp but rusty dagger. Emerging now from the brush to the mans rear, the silence of the calm afternoon is broken with a hurried fury of shuffling leaves before a desperate hiss escapes into the air. She leaps with her open hand forward reaching around the mans body to hold firm with her claws as she works her dagger furiously into the back of the mans armor searching for any opening she can find. Finally, she has struck oil, her hand becomes wet with blood as she now intensifies the motion. Digging deeper and harder she works feverishly in her desperate attempt to bring the man down without his resistance. Clutching the mans chest tightly with her open claw she too falls as the man lands face down and bloodied. Taking no chance she rolls his still body over and runs her dagger over his neck, opening it wide. With little delay she returns to her feet, wiping the bloody dagger across the mans legs and returning it to the sheath wrapped around her leg. Opening the mans leather bag she finds a large amount of copper coins and some food, she appears pleased as she closes the bag and turns to walk away. Just then she stops and spots a ring on the mans hand. Kneeling down beside him she yanks hard to free the ring from his finger "she doesn't think you will be needing thisss anymore". Sliding on the newly acquired trinket she can't help but to admire it quickly before leaving the mans body to the elements and dissappearing back into the dense forest...

((this RP does not mean to imply in any way that the victim was perma-deathed, simply that they were clouded))

"Got ya!"

Monty quickly runs towards the prey he just shot, jumping all the obstacles on the ground in a narrow and dark forest. The deer is already dead from the shot, which pleases him. It's easier to kill something from the distance..., he thinks to himself, and although he has seen some battle lately since that man gave him a gentle kick out of the door, showing him that he might be able to become more than a peasant, he still doesn't like the idea of getting into close combat with something that lives, screams and bloods.

With the deer dead, his routine begins quickly though. He pulls the arrow out of it's head and tosses it away, since it's broken. He then grabs a dagger from his belt and drives it into the belly of the deer, cutting it open. "You'll get me some good amount of venison!", he says out loud, only now realizing there are sounds coming from nearby. He knows that snarling all too well - wolves! Way too often they come for his prey because they smell the blood.

He stands, grabbing his bow again and searching for the source of the sounds. Silently he walks towards it, hoping to see the wolves. Most of the times they are not aggressive, but dread and he'll be able to scare them away. After a few steps he sees a wolf, which appears to be the only one. It is feasting on something on the ground. Monty strains his bow. Do yourself a favor and run away, lad., he thinks before shouting at the wolf. The predator looks at him, growling, but although the animal can not know the strained bow could put an arrow through its head any time, its instincts work properly and it runs away. Good boy.

Monty moves closer to the prey of the wolf, jumping back a little once seeing that it is a person on the ground. He moves closer and examines the man, lying on his back. The wolf had started ripping flesh off the man's leg, since it couldn't reach the armored body. The throat of the man is open, too. Looks like a clean cut... Monty even moves closer, realizing the eyes and mouth of the man opened wide in terror. Looks like a fight all over... damn those bandits! Now they're around here too. Quickly Monty fixes his bow to his back, running back to his deer. In the middle of the way he stops and turns his head to the dead man once more. "So long, mate.."

He grabs the deer and puts it over his shoulders. Too dangerous to gut you here... thanks mister bandit, now I'll get a stiff neck again! Choosing the fastest way back to traces of civilization, he wanders off.
